Okay, let's talk about City on a Hill. Remember that show with Kevin Bacon being, well, Kevin Bacon-y?
It took us back to Boston, back when things were... messy. Lots of crime, lots of grit.
So, How Many Seasons Did We Get?
The answer? Three! Yep, just three seasons of corruption and crooked cops.
But, let's be honest here for a sec. Did it really feel like three seasons?
I mean, did anyone else feel like it zipped by super fast? Or maybe that's just me.
My (Potentially Unpopular) Opinion
Now, brace yourselves. I'm about to say something controversial. Ready?
I think City on a Hill could have stopped at two. Gasp!
I know, I know, some of you are probably grabbing your pitchforks. Hear me out though.
The first season was gripping. The second season, still pretty solid. But the third? Eh...
It wasn't *bad*, mind you. Just...less exciting? Less impactful?
Maybe they ran out of Boston dirt to dig up. Who knows?
Did Jackie Rohr's antics start to feel a little repetitive? Perhaps.
Was the plot getting a little too tangled? Possibly.
Don't get me wrong, I love Kevin Bacon. The man's a legend.
And Aldis Hodge brought some serious gravitas to the role of Decourcy Ward. No question.
But sometimes, shows just...end. And that's okay!
It's better to go out with a bang (or at least a decent shootout) than to drag things on until everyone's bored, right?
Think About It...
Look at some other great shows. Firefly got one season. ONE!
Freaks and Geeks? Also one season. Tragedy!
Sometimes brevity is the soul of wit, and the savior of a show's legacy.
Maybe City on a Hill should have taken that lesson to heart. Maybe.
Maybe I'm just being a grumpy TV critic. Entirely possible.
But three seasons it is. And that's the story we're sticking to.
So, next time you're looking for a gritty crime drama, give City on a Hill a watch. Just...maybe stop after season two. Unless you *really* love it. In which case, go wild!
It's a dark trip through Boston. Just remember to buckle up.
And hey, at least we got to see Kevin Bacon being awesome, right?
Plus, Boston accents are always fun to listen to. Even if they're completely exaggerated.
So there you have it. City on a Hill: three seasons, tons of corruption, and one potentially controversial opinion about its length. You're welcome!
