Okay, let's talk about In The Dark. You know, that show about Murphy Mason?
Specifically, we're tackling a question that might keep you up at night. Or, you know, maybe not. But still!
So, How Many Seasons Are We Talking?
Here's the deal. In The Dark has four seasons. Yep, four.
That's the official, undisputed, Google-able truth.
But, and this is a *big* but… are we sure about that?
Hear Me Out... (Unpopular Opinion Alert!)
Okay, unpopular opinion time. Brace yourselves.
I sometimes feel like In The Dark only has, like, 2 *really* good seasons. Maybe 2.5 if we're being generous.
Don’t get me wrong, I watched all four! I'm committed. Mostly because I get attached to characters like I'm adopting stray kittens.
But did the show maintain its initial spark? Did it keep me on the edge of my seat like in season one? Hmmm...
Season 1: Pure Gold
The first season of In The Dark? Masterpiece. No notes.
It had everything: mystery, humor, questionable decisions, and a dog named Pretzel!
Murphy was a mess, but she was *our* mess.
Season 2: Still Pretty Good
Season two kept the momentum going, right?
More drama, more twists, and more reasons to yell at the TV screen.
The stakes were higher, the tension was palpable, and I was still invested.
Seasons 3 & 4: Did We Lose Our Way?
This is where things get a little... fuzzy. And where I develop this unpopular opinion.
Did the plotlines get a little... out there? Maybe a little too convoluted?
Did some characters start acting in ways that felt totally out of character? Perhaps.
It's like they took all the crazy and then multiplied it by... well, a lot.
Don't get me wrong, there were still moments of brilliance.
But did it have that same magic from the beginning? That's debatable.
"It's like they tried to cram three seasons worth of plot into two." - Probably Someone on Reddit
The Verdict (Kind Of)
So, yes, technically, there are four seasons of In The Dark.
But in my heart? Maybe it's more like two amazing seasons and two seasons of... well, something else.
Maybe they should have stopped while they were ahead. Before the storylines jumped the shark... or maybe the pretzel?
Ultimately, it's up to you to decide how you feel about the later seasons.
But if you agree with me, well, we can start a support group for people who secretly wish In The Dark had ended sooner.
Or maybe we'll just re-watch season one and pretend the rest didn't happen. 🤷♀️
Either way, thanks for indulging my In The Dark related musings!
