Dexter: New Blood – One and Done? Let's Discuss (Because I Have Opinions)
Okay, let's talk Dexter: New Blood. We all watched it (or at least pretended to at parties). But how many seasons are we REALLY getting?
The internet seems divided. Some folks are screaming for more. Others are saying, "Leave Dexter Morgan in the snowy grave!"
My Hot Take (Prepare Yourselves)
I'm firmly in the "one and done" camp. Yep, I said it. Bring on the downvotes!
Hear me out before you sharpen your pitchforks. Sometimes, less is more.
Dexter: New Blood felt like a gift. A surprising, slightly twisted holiday present we didn't expect.
The Allure of the Limited Series
There's something magical about a limited series. The writers know exactly where they're going. No filler episodes, no dragging storylines.
Every scene feels purposeful. Every character arc is carefully crafted. It's like a perfectly wrapped package!
Trying to stretch Dexter: New Blood into multiple seasons risks ruining that. We could end up with watered-down plots and jumping the shark moments.
Remember the original *Dexter*'s later seasons? Let's just say... we don't need a repeat of that.
But... Harrison!
I know, I know. What about Harrison Morgan? He's young! He's angsty! He has a dark passenger!
Couldn't we follow his story? Maybe he becomes the next generation's vigilante?
The answer, in my humble opinion, is "meh." A *Harrison* spin-off could be interesting. But it wouldn't be Dexter.
Leave 'Em Wanting More
Think about your favorite bands. Didn't they release that ONE album that was just *chef's kiss* perfect?
And then they kept going, trying to recapture that magic. Sometimes they succeeded, often they didn't. The quality just wasn’t there.
That's what I'm afraid of with Dexter: New Blood. It had a beginning, a middle, and a definitive end.
Dexter Morgan's story, as we knew it, is over. And that's okay.
My Unpopular Opinion: Embracing Closure
It's hard to let go of beloved characters. We invest so much time and emotion into them. We want to see them thrive (or at least continue existing).
But sometimes, the most powerful thing a show can do is end. To give us a satisfying (even if heartbreaking) conclusion.
Dexter: New Blood gave us that closure. Imperfect? Maybe. Divisive? Definitely. But it was an ending.
Let's appreciate it for what it was. A bloody, snowy, and slightly bonkers return to a world we thought we'd left behind.
So, Will There Be More?
Honestly, who knows? Hollywood loves a good revival (or rehash). Money talks.
But deep down, I hope they resist the urge. Let Dexter rest in peace (sort of).
Let's cherish the single season of New Blood we got. And maybe rewatch the original series (but skip those last few seasons, you know which ones I’m talking about).
What do YOU think? Am I completely off base? Let me know in the comments!
Just be nice. I'm sensitive.
"Surprise, Motherf***er!" – Dexter Morgan (probably saying it from beyond the grave about this whole situation)
