The whole “opposites attract” trope is, well, a trope. We've seen it a million times. Boy meets girl, they overcome obstacles, and grow as people.
Sure, the circumstances were unique, with Josee being disabled. But the overall arc felt familiar.
I’m not saying predictability is inherently bad! Sometimes you just want something cozy and comfortable. But I was hoping for a little more surprise, a little more oomph.
The Animation is Gorgeous, Though. I'll Give Them That.
Let's be real, the animation studio knocked it out of the park. The colors were vibrant, the character designs were lovely.
Especially the underwater scenes! They really brought Tsuneo's love for the ocean to life. Visually stunning, no question about it.
It's like, the artistry was a 10/10, but the story was a 7/10 for me. Does that make sense?

I needed more closure! I wanted to know what happened after the credits rolled. Did they live happily ever after? Did Josee finally get her dream tiger?

Look, I know Josee, the Tiger and the Fish is a beloved film. And I get why people connect with it. It's got heart, it's got beautiful visuals, and it tackles some important themes.
