Okay, let's talk about Josh O'Connor. You know, that guy? He's been popping up everywhere lately.
The Crown King...But Was He THAT Good?
Everyone went bonkers for his Prince Charles in The Crown. He even nabbed an Emmy! But here's my possibly unpopular opinion: he was good, sure. But did he *really* nail the perpetually-miserable royal? I'm not 100% convinced.
Don't get me wrong, the ears were on point. He did the awkward shuffle well. Still, sometimes it felt a bit… forced? Like he was *trying* to be awkward, instead of just *being* it.
And the moping! Oh, the moping. Maybe a tad too much? I think they pushed the pathetic angle a bit too far.
God's Own Country: A Farmer's Tale
Before royalty, there was sheep farming. And raw emotion. This movie, God's Own Country, is where a lot of people first noticed Josh O'Connor.
He played a young farmer struggling with… well, everything. It was gritty and real. You could practically smell the manure through the screen!
It was a powerful performance. It really cemented him as someone to watch. No arguments there.
Other Roles: Hits and Misses?
He's been in quite a few things since then. Some were fantastic. Some… less so.
Emma. was charming enough. The man can rock a Regency coat! Was it a groundbreaking performance? Nah. But enjoyable fluff? Absolutely.
Then there's Mothering Sunday. A beautiful film, visually stunning. But honestly, I spent more time admiring the scenery than focusing on his character. Sorry, Josh!
The Upcoming Challengers
He's got some exciting projects coming up. Challengers with Zendaya looks… intense. Very intense.
I'm cautiously optimistic. It's a far cry from Prince Charles. Hopefully, it will showcase his range.
Also, the tennis whites are a good look. Just saying.
Final Verdict: Still Undecided
Look, Josh O'Connor is clearly talented. He's got the acting chops. And he's definitely got the cheekbones.
But sometimes, I feel like he's still searching for that truly iconic role. The one that makes everyone say, "THAT'S Josh O'Connor!"
Maybe Challengers will be it. Or maybe something completely unexpected will come along. Either way, I'll be watching. Probably with popcorn. And maybe a slightly critical eye. Don’t judge.
He's got the potential to be a truly great actor. He just needs the right material. And maybe a role where he doesn't have to mope quite so much.
What do you think? Am I being too harsh? Or do you agree that he's still got room to grow? Let me know!
