Okay, let's be honest. We all jumped on the Jujutsu Kaisen train, right? Explosions, curses, and a protagonist with more baggage than a Kardashian on vacation.
Summer of Ashes? More Like Summer of Snooze.
Remember the Shibuya Incident? Yeah, that whole "Summer of Ashes" thing? It was supposed to be epic. It was... long. Really, really long.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the world-building. I really do. But did we *need* twenty episodes of absolute despair? My therapist certainly didn't think so.
Yuji Needs a Hug (and Maybe a Vacation).
Poor Yuji Itadori. He's been through more trauma than a character in a Greek tragedy. Can someone just give him a hug and a plate of his favorite food?
Seriously, the kid deserves a break. Maybe a tropical vacation? Somewhere far, far away from curses and finger-eating.
I’m throwing it out there: Unpopular opinion – I think the Shibuya Incident was stretched a little too thin. It's like that one friend who tells a story that goes on forever.
Autumn of Dust: Did Someone Forget the Plot Fertilizer?
And then came the "Autumn of Dust." The name alone just depresses me! It feels like someone just threw a bunch of plot points at a wall to see what stuck.
So many characters, so little time. We got introduced to like, a million new sorcerers and ancient curses. My brain started to hurt.
I love me a good complex plot, but this felt more like a tangled mess of headphone wires. Anyone else feel me?
Where Did the Humor Go?
Remember when Jujutsu Kaisen was actually funny? Before everyone started dying and the world turned gray? Me too. Barely.
The early episodes had such a great balance of action and humor. Gojo Satoru, the god of trolling was at his best. Now, everyone is just moping around.
We need more Todo clapping and asking about our type of woman. Is that too much to ask?
"But, but, the character development!" – A Jujutsu Kaisen Fan, probably.
Look, I get it. Characters need to grow. But does that growth *always* have to be fueled by immense suffering? Can't they, like, learn to knit or something?
Okay, Okay, It's Still Good (Kind Of).
Alright, alright. I'm being a bit harsh. Jujutsu Kaisen is still a visually stunning show. The fight choreography is top-notch.
And there are moments of genuine brilliance. When Gojo shows up, or when Yuji finds a sliver of hope. It's just that those moments are becoming fewer and farther between.
I just hope the next season brings back some of the joy and levity that made the first season so special. Please, Gege Akutami, have mercy!
Final Thoughts: From Amazing to Just Okay?
Maybe I'm just getting old and jaded. Maybe I'm just craving something lighter and more optimistic. Or maybe, just maybe, Jujutsu Kaisen lost its way a little bit.
I still love the show, don't get me wrong. I'm just hoping it can recapture some of that initial magic. Before the ashes and the dust completely settle.
Anyone else agree? Or am I just shouting into the void? Let me know your unpopular Jujutsu Kaisen opinions!
