Okay, let's talk Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2, Episode 2. Remember that one? It's been a minute, right?
Unpopular opinion incoming! I kind of... liked it. I know, I know, gasp!
A Train Full of... Anxiety?
The Mugen Train arc was intense, even back then. Remember the demon shenanigans on the train? Good times!
I mean, "good" as in "edge-of-your-seat" good. Not "sipping lemonade on a sunny day" good. More like "stress eating Pocky at 3 AM" good.
Tanjiro, bless his sweet heart, was working overtime. Trying to protect everyone? Classic Tanjiro.
Rengoku: Shining Star? Maybe Too Bright?
Let's be honest, Rengoku was pretty much the sun. Super motivational, super loud, and a little bit... much?
I loved him, don't get me wrong. But sometimes, I needed sunglasses. My ears were also ringing a little.
Was he trying a little too hard? Did anyone else feel like he'd mainlined pure, unfiltered optimism?
But hey, at least he was entertaining! No boring moments with that guy around.
Maybe, just maybe, they should have dialed him down a notch?
Sleepy Time Troubles
The dream sequences were interesting. Seeing what makes each character tick?
Especially Tanjiro's. Getting to see his family again was both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
I won't lie, I teared up a little. Don't judge me!
But honestly, the whole sleeping thing was also a little slow for me. They were stuck in a dream for a while.
And the pacing felt...off? Like a really long commercial break that just kept going and going.
Enmu: A Villain We Love to Hate?
Enmu, the Lower One, was creepy, right? I still get the shivers when I think about his voice.
His whole deal with dreams and nightmares? Definitely messed up.
But was he a *good* villain? Debatable. He was certainly effective at being annoying. Mission accomplished, I guess?
He was more like a persistent mosquito than a terrifying monster, at least at the beginning.
Overall Impression?
Look, I'm not saying it was a perfect episode. It had its slow moments, sure.
But it set the stage for what was to come. And laid the foundation for emotional gut punches.
Plus, any episode with Nezuko in it is automatically a win, right?
So, yeah, I liked it. Fight me!
Just kidding... mostly.
I know the Mugen Train arc continues to be popular among the fans. But was this episode essential? That's up for debate.
Even though I may not love it as much as everyone else, there's enough to appreciate for what it is.
I'm just happy to be revisiting Kimetsu no Yaiba, one episode at a time.
