Okay, let's talk about *Lost in Space*, season 2, episode 9. Prepare for some (maybe) controversial opinions. I said what I said!
Lost in...Logic? Nah.
This episode, titled “Contingency,” had a lot going on. We had robot drama. We had alien landscapes. We even had a little bit of family squabbling.
But did it *all* make sense? That's where I'm raising an eyebrow, my friends. Some of the choices felt...convenient, shall we say?
The Robot Rebellion (Kind Of)
So, the robots are still acting a bit sus. Always a concern, isn't it? You never know what those pesky robots will do next.
We see more of the Robot's internal struggle. Is he good? Is he bad? Is he just misunderstood? The jury's still out for me. The ambiguity is kinda fun though, right?
Then there's the other robots. Their motivations felt a little... vague. They want the engine? Okay, but why *that* way?
Judy's Command Decisions: Bless Her Heart
Okay, let's be real. Judy, sweet, smart Judy, sometimes makes decisions that make you wanna yell at the screen. "Judy, no! Bad choice!"
I love her character. But her willingness to trust literally everyone is alarming. Especially when their motives remain suspect.
I'm not saying she's wrong *all* the time. But a little more skepticism wouldn't hurt. Maybe she needs a "trust but verify" mentor.
The "Oh No, We're Stuck!" Trope
This show LOVES a good "we're trapped!" scenario. And "Contingency" delivers that in spades. It seems they are always stuck in one place or another.
Giant alien bugs? Check. Collapsing caves? Check. Perilous landscapes? Double check! I am always here for it.
While it gets a *tad* repetitive, I can't deny the tension it creates. Are they creative with the situations? Or always the same setup?
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Here it comes, folks. Brace yourselves. My unpopular opinion about episode 9 is...it's a bit...forgettable.
Don't get me wrong, it's not *bad*. The plot points felt, at times, like they were just checking off boxes.
It moves the overall plot forward. Some moments felt predictable, didn't they? I almost forgot it happened, it wasn't a terrible episode, but it wasn't a *stand out* one.
The stakes felt high. I just didn't connect with the individual conflicts as much as I did in other episodes. Is this just me?
Overall: Still Watching (Obviously)
Despite my gripes, I'm still invested in the Robinson family's journey. The characters get into my soul. That's just a fact.
The visual effects are stunning. The robot fights are pretty cool. The family dynamic, even when annoying, is always compelling.
I'm eager to see how the season wraps up. I will say that I'm in until the end, even if some episodes miss the mark for me!
So, what did *you* think of "Contingency"? Am I way off base? Or did you find yourself scratching your head a bit too?
Let's discuss in the comments! Don't be shy. Let's share some love for Lost in Space and maybe agree to disagree about its individual episodes.
