Okay, let's be honest. We all secretly watch Love It or List It, right?
It's the perfect blend of property porn and passive-aggressive bickering.
But here's my unpopular opinion: Phil Spencer is *way* more likeable than Kirstie Allsopp. Don't @ me!
Phil: The Charming One
Let's face it, Phil is smooth. He's got that calming voice. He soothes the stressed-out homeowners.
He knows how to find a good deal. He's basically the property whisperer.
He seems genuinely invested in finding them the perfect house. Even when their budget is, shall we say, ambitious.
He Actually Listens (Maybe)
While Kirstie is busy ripping out kitchens, Phil is *attempting* to understand what people actually want.
Okay, sometimes he rolls his eyes. We all do it when someone says they need a "country cottage feel" in downtown London.
But at least he *tries*. Unlike someone we know...
Kirstie: The Chaotic Force
Kirstie bursts into the house. She's ready to tear it down. (Sometimes literally.)
She has grand ideas. These often involve knocking down walls. And exceeding budgets. By a *lot*.
I appreciate the enthusiasm. But sometimes, I think she's designing for herself, not the homeowners.
Her "Improvements" Are... Questionable
Let's talk about some of Kirstie's choices. Remember that time she put wallpaper with giant pineapples in a Victorian house?
Or the tiny, impractical kitchen she designed for a family of six?
Don't get me started on the glitter. So. Much. Glitter.
The Banter: Is It Real?
The dynamic between Kirstie and Phil is the show's bread and butter.
They snipe at each other. They playfully insult each other's choices.
But sometimes, it feels less like playful banter and more like genuine exasperation. Mostly from Phil.
Who Would You Trust?
If I were actually on the show, who would I trust with my house and my sanity?
I'd have to pick Phil. He'd probably find me a decent place. That wasn't covered in glitter.
Plus, he just seems nicer. Like you could actually grab a pint with him after a stressful day of house hunting.
But hey, that's just my opinion. Maybe you're all Kirstie fans. Maybe you love pineapple wallpaper.
And that's perfectly fine! We can still be friends. Even if you're wrong.
Ultimately, Love It or List It is addictive. It's because we all secretly enjoy watching other people's home struggles.
And whether you're Team Phil or Team Kirstie, you have to admit. It's good TV.
