Okay, Hear Me Out: Moribito is a *Little* Overrated
Let's talk about Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit. It's a beautiful show. Everyone raves about it. But, am I the only one who thinks it's just a *tad* bit...slow?
Don't get me wrong! I adore strong female characters. Balsa is a total badass. She's a spear-wielding warrior who kicks serious butt.
Protecting Prince Chagum? Noble and heroic! But sometimes, I felt like I was watching paint dry.
The Pace, Though...
The scenery? Gorgeous. The world-building? Impeccable. I get it. They're building tension. But did we really need three episodes of them just walking through the forest?
I mean, I appreciate a good nature walk. But, maybe a monster or two could have spiced things up! Just a suggestion.
Other anime pack so much action into one episode! Here, they discuss herbs for ten minutes.
Chagum: The Boy Who Just Needed a Nap
Let's be honest. Chagum spends a good portion of the show looking sad and contemplative. He's a prince, I get it. Life is hard.
But maybe a double shot of espresso? Some playful sword fighting? Anything to inject some pep into the kid! He just seemed perpetually exhausted. Maybe that's why the show is so slow-paced?
He's cute, though. I'll give him that.
The Villains: Not Exactly Moriarty
The bad guys are...fine. Competent. But let's be honest. They're not exactly evil masterminds. More like frustrated government officials with swords.
Give me a villain who twirls their mustache and monologues! Give me a villain who cackles maniacally! These guys just seem tired of their jobs.
I understand wanting to be realistic. I guess?
Beautiful, but Maybe Not a Re-Watch?
Look, Moribito is undeniably beautiful. The animation is stunning. The music is fantastic. It's a well-crafted story.
But is it *entertaining*? Sometimes. Sometimes, it's more like a visual ASMR experience. Calming, but not exactly thrilling.
I've seen it once. I appreciate it. But, I don't know if I could sit through it again anytime soon. There are just too many other anime vying for my attention!
Unpopular Opinion, Activated!
So, there you have it. My slightly controversial take on Moribito. It's good. Just... maybe not *as* good as everyone says?
Bring on the hate mail! (Just kidding... mostly.)
Tell me, am I totally alone in this? Or are there others who feel the same way? Let me know!
