Movie I Ll See You In My Dreams

Movie I Ll See You In My Dreams

Okay, let's talk about a movie. A movie called I'll See You in My Dreams. Yes, the title makes it sound a bit sleepy, doesn't it?

It's about a widow named Carol Petersen. She's suddenly single and navigates life. Let's just say she's not your typical rom-com heroine.

Here's the Unpopular Opinion...

I actually liked this movie. A lot. Is that so wrong?

Everyone seems to rave about superhero flicks. Or movies with exploding robots. This is neither!

It's quiet. It's thoughtful. It's…dare I say it…realistic?

The Charm is in the Simplicity

No one flies. No one saves the world. Carol just... lives.

She drinks wine. She plays cards. She deals with her annoying (but loving) friends.

Her biggest problem is probably whether or not to get a pet rat. Seriously! A rat!

And you know what? I found it utterly compelling. More so than most action movies, in fact.

I think it's because I recognized something. Not the rat thing, necessarily. More the feeling of figuring things out after a big life change.

Life after loss is always a bit of a weird one. Carol represents that feeling really well.

Diane Ladd Steals the Show

Let's be honest, Diane Ladd is a national treasure. Her presence makes this film special.

She plays one of Carol's best friends. She's hilarious and supportive, but also a total gossip.

We all have a Diane Ladd in our lives, don't we? A little bit crazy, a whole lot of heart.

The "Romantic" Element... Kind Of

There are a few romantic interests floating around. But it's not the main focus.

And that's a good thing! It's about Carol finding herself, not just finding a man.

Although, Sam Elliott shows up. And, well, who *wouldn't* fall for Sam Elliott?

He plays a charming stranger. He enjoys similar things as Carol. So there is hope.

He makes the movie even better, let's be honest. That voice! The mustache!

Why This Movie Resonated

Maybe it's because I'm getting older. Maybe I'm tired of seeing the world saved every other week. Maybe I need a movie that feels…human.

I'll See You in My Dreams did that for me. It showed me that life can be funny, sad, and ultimately, okay. All at the same time.

The movie doesn't shy away from the hard stuff. Loss, loneliness, aging. These things are all very tough topics to approach.

But it also celebrates the small joys. Friendship, a good glass of wine, a surprisingly delightful pet rat (maybe!).

So, if you're looking for a movie that will make you think, feel, and maybe even laugh a little... give it a try.

Just don't expect any explosions. Or superheroes. Unless you count Carol Petersen. Because she's definitely a hero in my book.

It is definitely worth a watch. Even if you are on the fence about watching a movie about a widow.

In the end, the movie will be in your dreams. So, don't miss it!
