Okay, let's talk about *that* episode. You know the one. Episode 108 of *My Hero Academia*, Season 5.
Prepare yourselves, because I'm about to say something...potentially controversial. Maybe even scandalous.
Deep breaths, everyone.
The Episode Everyone Loves to Hate
It's no secret. Episode 108, featuring a lot of the *Class 1-B* students, isn't exactly a fan favorite. It seems most people just skimmed it and just want to see Deku.
The general consensus seems to be, "Ugh, filler! Where's the main plot?" And listen, I get it. We all crave that sweet, sweet *Shigaraki* showdown.
But...and here's where the pitchforks come out...I didn't hate it. In fact...dare I say...I kind of enjoyed it?
Hear Me Out!
I know, I know. It's like admitting you enjoy pineapple on pizza. Blasphemy! But please, just hear my completely unbiased, totally objective (okay, maybe slightly biased) defense.
First of all, let's acknowledge the obvious: the pacing was a bit off. Things felt rushed in parts and dragged in others.
But that doesn't mean the entire episode was a write-off! Think of it as a palette cleanser before the main course.
The *Joint Training Exercise* was all about showcasing the other heroes, right? A lot of which, if you ask me, get little to no recognition.
It gave us a glimpse into their quirks, their personalities, and their fighting styles. Plus, its always fun to see the different ways they come up with to use their quirks.
Appreciating the Underdogs
Come on, who didn't crack a smile when *Monoma* copied someone's quirk and then proceeded to be utterly useless with it? That's comedy gold!
And what about *Kendo*? She's basically the responsible older sister of *Class 1-B*, always keeping everyone in line. She deserves a medal for that alone.
Seeing these students grow and learn is part of what makes *My Hero Academia* so great. It's not just about *Deku* becoming the number one hero.
It's about all of them striving to be better, to protect others, and to find their place in the world. Even if they're not the main characters.
A Different Perspective
Maybe I'm just easily entertained. Maybe I have a soft spot for the underdogs. Maybe I'm just trying to be contrarian for the sake of it.
But I genuinely believe that Episode 108 had its moments. It wasn't perfect, no. But it wasn't the absolute train wreck that everyone makes it out to be.
Think about the animation quality for a moment. The animators put a lot of effort into those fight scenes, even if they weren't *Deku* throwing punches.
So, the next time you're re-watching *My Hero Academia*, give Episode 108 another chance. You might be surprised at what you find.
Or, you know, you can just skip it and go straight to the good stuff. I won't judge...too much.
After all, who am I to argue with the internet? Just a lone voice shouting into the void, defending a seemingly indefensible episode.
But hey, at least I said my piece. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go hide from the angry mob. They’re probably sharpening their pitchforks right now!
Just remember, it's okay to have unpopular opinions. Even about anime. Embrace the chaos!
Plus, it sets up some character development later on. I'm not saying who, but keep an eye out.
Now, I'm off to rewatch the episode again, just to make sure I haven't completely lost my mind. Wish me luck!
