Okay, let's talk about My Hero Academia. Specifically, Season 5. And more specifically, how long it felt.
Don't get me wrong, I love MHA. I really do.
But Season 5 had 25 episodes. Twenty-five! That's a whole lotta Deku shouting "Smash!"
The Training Arc That Wouldn't End
Remember the Joint Training Arc? It pitted Class 1-A against 1-B. Fun concept, right?
It just. Kept. Going.
Each battle felt like it stretched on forever. Maybe that's just me. But did we really need to see every single team's strategy play out in such detail?
My (Possibly Unpopular) Opinion
Here's the thing: I think Season 5 could have been tighter. Shorter. More… impactful.
Cutting a few episodes wouldn't have hurt. It might have actually helped.
Imagine if we zoomed through some of the less critical training moments. We could've gotten to the darker stuff faster! You know, the stuff that made us gasp.
The Meta Liberation Army Cometh (Eventually)
The Meta Liberation Army arc was… a lot. It's where things started getting serious.
But man, getting there felt like climbing Mount Everest in flip-flops.
It's not that the MLA stuff was bad. It was actually pretty great!
The problem? All the build-up beforehand. It was like eating your vegetables before getting dessert. Except the vegetables were...also vegetables.
Less Filler, More Thriller?
Maybe "filler" is too harsh. But some episodes felt… unnecessary.
Did we really need a full episode dedicated to Mineta's questionable antics? Probably not.
I'm just saying, a leaner Season 5 could have been a legendary Season 5. Think 20 episodes instead of 25.
The Anime Pacing Problem
Anime pacing can be tricky. Sometimes, adaptations drag things out.
They want to fill the episode quota. I get it.
But in Season 5, the pacing felt particularly noticeable. It felt like they were adding unnecessary bits to drag it on.
A Call for Concise Storytelling
Look, I'm not a professional anime critic. I'm just a dude (or dudette) watching cartoons on my couch.
But I think many can agree with my claim that Season 5 was a bit too drawn out.
I just want well-paced episodes! Is that too much to ask?
Give me the juicy plot points. Give me the epic fight scenes. But please, spare me the extended training montages.
In short, Season 5 of My Hero Academia could have been better if trimmed down.
Looking Ahead
Despite my Season 5 gripes, I'm still hyped for what's to come.
MHA is awesome, after all. And the stakes are only getting higher.
Here's hoping Season 6 gives us all the action and excitement. Without the sluggish pacing.
Come on Kohei Horikoshi, PLUS ULTRA!
