Okay, let's talk My Hero Academia Season 2 opening. Specifically, "Peace Sign" by Kenshi Yonezu. Is it good? Yes. Is it iconic? Debatable. Prepare for some mild internet outrage because…I have opinions.
The Anthem Question
Everyone loves "Peace Sign," I know. It’s got that soaring melody. That inspirational vibe. It’s practically the definition of anime hype.
But...is it the **best** *My Hero Academia* opening? That’s where I politely raise an eyebrow. And possibly throw a tiny, harmless tantrum.
Don’t get me wrong! I jam to it. I sing along badly in my car. However, are we all just collectively agreeing it's the best because everyone *else* says it is?
My Unpopular Opinion: It's Good, Not God-Tier
Okay, brace yourselves. Here it comes. "Peace Sign" is a solid 8/10. Maybe even an 8.5. But the *absolute best*? I’m not convinced.
There are other contenders! Openings that hit harder. That have a more unique sound. That get me pumped *even more* for some superhero action.
Maybe I’m just a contrarian. Maybe I like to stir the pot. Or maybe, just maybe, I have a point buried somewhere in this rant.
Other Openings Deserve Love!
Let's be real. "The Day" from Season 1 slapped HARD. It had this raw energy. This sense of urgency that perfectly captured Deku's initial struggle.
And what about "Sora ni Utaeba" from Season 2 (second cour)?! Don't tell me that wasn't an emotional rollercoaster in song form. I still get chills listening to it.
We can't forget about all the other bangers. All the other openings that captured a certain point of the show. All the openings that were just...better!
Is It the Overplay Effect?
Part of my "Peace Sign" skepticism might be its popularity. We hear it *everywhere*. Anime conventions, AMVs, even the background music at my local ramen shop.
Maybe it's overexposure. Maybe I just need a break from hearing Kenshi Yonezu every five seconds. Could it be that simple?
Perhaps. But I stand by my (possibly) controversial opinion. It's great, just not *the greatest*.
Judge Me, I Dare You!
I know, I know. I'm basically committing anime blasphemy right now. The internet is probably sharpening its pitchforks. So be it.
I'm just a humble anime fan. A fan with strong (and possibly wrong) opinions. I also enjoy a good debate. Hit me with your best arguments for "Peace Sign" supremacy!
Ultimately, music is subjective. If you love "Peace Sign," that's awesome. Enjoy your jam! I'll be over here, quietly listening to "Make my Story" and feeling smugly superior.
Please don't @ me. Unless you want to discuss why "Odd Future" is underrated. Then, by all means, let's talk.
Just kidding…mostly. Now, back to rewatching *My Hero Academia* for the tenth time. And pondering this existential question.
