Okay, let's talk ponies. Specifically, the *very* last episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Buckle up, because I'm about to dive into Season 9, Episode 25, "The Ending of the End - Part 2." And I might have some feelings you weren't expecting.
The Big Battle
So, the big bads are back. Grogar, Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow? Talk about a villainous team-up! It’s basically the pony version of the Avengers... if the Avengers were all trying to destroy the world.
The Mane Six have to figure out how to stop them. Honestly, their teamwork is usually pretty on point. But sometimes, even friendship needs a little extra *oomph*.
I mean, watching them fight is cool. There's magic flying everywhere! Explosions! Dramatic music! But did anyone else feel like it was... a little rushed?
Cozy Glow: A Controversial Opinion
Here's where things get spicy. I'm going to say it. I don't hate Cozy Glow. I know, I know! Pitchforks down, everypony! Let me explain.
Sure, she was evil. Totally power-hungry. Wanted to destroy friendship itself. But was she wrong to see the flaws of the other villians? She made many right calls but her desire to dominate and win at all costs eventually backfires.
I get that she's supposed to be the embodiment of pure evil. But... maybe she was just a misunderstood filly with some serious trust issues. Is it just me?
Stone Cold
Turning Cozy Glow into stone? Harsh, Equestria, harsh! I feel like there were other options. Maybe some serious therapy? A "Villains Anonymous" meeting?
Seriously, the show is all about friendship and forgiveness! It feels a little hypocritical to just petrify a kid. Someone get her a good lawyer! Though the show did explain that Cozy Glow was deemed too dangerous to be reformed so she was permentanly turned into stone. The choice was made that she was too far gone.
The Time Skip
Okay, fast forward a few years. The Mane Six are older! They have different hairstyles! And... they're all splitting up? Why?
I understand the whole "spreading their wings" metaphor. But it still felt a little sad! After nine seasons of friendship, they're all going their separate ways? My heart!
Twilight Sparkle looks fabulous as a princess, but I miss the awkward, book-loving unicorn. Did anyone else feel this way?
A Fitting End?
Ultimately, "The Ending of the End - Part 2" does its best. It wraps up the story. It gives us a happy ending. It shows the importance of friendship.
But did it *stick the landing* perfectly? Honestly, I'm not sure. Maybe my expectations were too high. It had to be a challenge to give a satisfying conclusion to such an established show.
Maybe I just wanted more pony adventures! More silly jokes! More Pinkie Pie shenanigans! But, alas, all good things must come to an end. Even sparkly pony adventures. What do you think?
