Okay, let's talk My Next Life As a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! Season 2 Episode 5. I have THOUGHTS. Unpopular thoughts, maybe. But thoughts nonetheless!
Maria's Baking Antics
First off, Maria. Sweet, adorable Maria. She's trying so hard to bake for everyone. Bless her heart.
But honestly? Her creations look…questionable. I appreciate the effort, but I'd probably politely decline a second slice.
The Magic of Friendship (and Maybe Cookies?)
The whole episode is about strengthening bonds. Everyone's getting closer. It's very heartwarming.
Except...does anyone else think they're *too* reliant on Maria's desserts for connection? Is sugar the only glue holding this group together?
I'm just saying, maybe try a board game night instead. Less potential for food poisoning.
Catarina's Brain...Again
Of course, Catarina is still oblivious. To everything. Especially the romantic advances aimed directly at her face.
She's too busy plotting elaborate schemes to avoid her doom flags. Doom flags that, let's be real, probably don't even exist anymore.
Girl, relax! Enjoy the attention! You've accidentally built yourself a harem. Embrace it!
The Garden of Doom (or Just a Garden?)
The garden is still a major plot point. Catarina's planting and tending like her life depends on it. Which, historically, it kind of did.
But at this point, shouldn't she just hire a gardener? It would free up time to, you know, actually interact with the people who are clearly in love with her.
Maybe a nice rose bush would finally clue her in on Geordo's feelings. Probably not, though.
Keith's Silent Suffering
Poor Keith. He's always lurking in the background, radiating brotherly (or more-than-brotherly?) concern.
He deserves a hug. And maybe a therapist. Dealing with Catarina must be exhausting.
Seriously, can we get a spin-off series from Keith's perspective? I'd watch it.
My Unpopular Opinion
Okay, here it is: I think Catarina is starting to get a *little* annoying. I know, I know, heresy!
But her obliviousness is becoming less charming and more…frustrating. At what point does it stop being funny and start being dense?
I still love her, of course. But I'm hoping she has a breakthrough soon. For the sake of her sanity, and mine.
Overall Verdict
Episode 5 was cute, fluffy, and generally enjoyable. Classic Villainess shenanigans.
But I'm ready for some plot progression! Let's move beyond the baking and gardening and get to some actual conflict!
Or, at least, let Catarina finally realize that everyone is head-over-heels for her. Please?
Ultimately, I'm still invested. I need to know how this chaotic reverse harem ends. And I'm prepared to be simultaneously delighted and exasperated along the way.
