Right, let's talk NCIS: Los Angeles. Specifically, Season 13 on UK Sky. You watched it, right? Good. We're on the same page.
Now, I'm going to say something that might get me some online hate. But here we go. I think… and please don't throw tomatoes… it wasn't the *best* season.
Unpopular Opinion Incoming!
I know, I know! Hear me out. I love Callen. I adore Sam. Kensi and Deeks? Couple goals, obviously. But Season 13 just felt… off, sometimes.
Maybe it was the slightly darker tone? Or the constant threat of *something* bad happening? Perhaps it was the will-they-won't-they with a particular character, drawing too much focus?
Case of the Week Blues
The cases themselves? They were fine. Explosions, undercover work, clever deductions. The usual NCIS: LA recipe.
But did any really stick with me? Did I find myself pondering the moral implications of a rogue missile system at 3am? Not really. Sorry not sorry.
Other seasons had these super memorable moments. The kind you'd re-watch a million times. I don't remember having that with season 13.
Character Dynamics: A Little Shaky?
Even the character interactions felt a little… strained, at times. The witty banter didn't always land. The emotional moments felt a bit forced. It felt forced and manufactured a bit.
Kensi and Deeks were still adorable, don't get me wrong. But even their dynamic felt slightly muted.
And remember when Hetty was basically a mythical creature, appearing only in blurry Zoom calls? I missed her! We all did.
"Where's Hetty?!" - Everyone watching Season 13
The Elephant in the Room
Okay, let's address the real issue. The ending. Without spoiling anything for the few people who haven't seen it, let's just say it was… a choice. It felt as though it was designed to be the lead to the end to the show.
Was it satisfying? Did it give closure? For some, maybe. For me? Not entirely.
The storyline with Callen and his past was fantastic. The show had a tendency to draw things out. That story line was the culmination of years and years of plot lines. It was a good pay off.
It's Not You, It's Me (Maybe)
Maybe I'm being too harsh. Maybe my expectations were too high. Maybe I just wasn't in the right headspace for serious crime dramas when I watched it.
It's entirely possible that I had too high expectations for season 13. Given I had waited and waited and waited for it to come out on Sky.
But honestly, compared to other seasons, it just didn't quite hit the mark for me. What do you think? Am I alone in this unpopular opinion?
Let me know! Before you grab your pitchforks and torches, remember it's just a TV show. And we all have different tastes.
And no matter what, I'll still be tuning in for more NCIS: Los Angeles...eventually.
