Rik Mayall plays Vernon, a truly dreadful poet with a penchant for the dramatic. He fancies himself quite the ladies' man. Spoiler alert: he's not.
His performance is gloriously over-the-top. Think the energy of Bottom or The Young Ones, dialed down *just* enough to fit the slightly more serious tone (slightly being the key word!).
He's obnoxious, self-centered, and utterly hilarious. You can't help but love (or love to hate) him.
Beyond the Gags
While One By One is undoubtedly funny, it's more than just a collection of gags. There's a genuine mystery at its heart.
Who is the killer? Why are they targeting these specific people? The film keeps you guessing.
The claustrophobic setting adds to the tension. You really feel trapped along with the characters in that snowy hostel.

One By One isn't a polished Hollywood blockbuster. It's got a certain… ramshackle charm.
It feels like a passion project, made with a lot of love and a healthy dose of British eccentricity.
