Okay, let's talk about One Punch Man Season 2 Episode 11. Remember that one? Yeah, the one where things... happened.
Some people loved it. Some, well, not so much. But I'm here to drop a maybe slightly controversial opinion.
The King's Gambit
Let's be real, the highlight was King. The guy is a legend, even though he's basically living a very elaborate lie.
The sheer panic and accidental awesomeness? Pure gold. Seriously, I could watch him fumble through life all day.
King's "Engine" is the best.
That rumbling sound? Comedy genius. It's the sound of King's anxiety reaching critical mass.
And the way everyone interprets it as some kind of unstoppable power? Chefs kiss! It's just hilarious.
Don't @ me, but I kinda enjoyed watching him more than Saitama in this episode. Saitama's powerful, sure, but King is relatable.
Garou's Hunt
Okay, okay, Garou was also doing his thing. Hunting heroes, causing chaos. You know, the usual villain stuff.
He's definitely a strong dude. His fight with the heroes was pretty decent.
But honestly? I sometimes forget what his ultimate goal is. Is it world domination? Is it proving a point?
Garou's fashion style is...unique.
That torn up shirt thing he's got going on? I don't get it. Does he do that on purpose? Is it like a villain uniform?
Maybe he's just really bad at laundry. Either way, someone get that guy a new shirt.
I am not a big fan of villain backstory, but he is alright.
Saitama's Grocery Run
And then we have Saitama. Doing what he does best: being ridiculously overpowered and strangely oblivious.
His search for a good bargain? Classic Saitama. He is such a simple character.
He gets distracted by sales. He cares about quality. What's not to love?
The Hero Association should give him coupons!
Seriously, they need to give Saitama a hero discount at the supermarket. It's the least they could do.
Imagine him walking in with a stack of coupons, ready to save the day, one bargain at a time. Priceless!
But his part felt like a side quest in a larger RPG. A fun side quest, but still a side quest.
Unpopular Opinion Time
So, here's my controversial take: I enjoyed this episode more than some of the bigger fight scenes. There, I said it!
I love the characters and the gags.
The humor is top tier and King carries the episode.
Yes, the animation wasn't always perfect. Yes, the story meandered a bit.
But the comedy? The characters? The sheer absurdity of it all? It all worked for me.
Maybe I'm easily amused. Maybe I just have a soft spot for King's incompetence. Who knows?
But One Punch Man at its heart is comedy.
And to me, this episode delivered on that front.
So, sue me. I liked it! What are your thoughts?
