Okay, Let's Talk About Persona 5 Preorders (Again?)
Confession time: I didn't preorder Persona 5. Not even the "Take Your Heart" edition. Gasp!
I know, I know. It's practically gaming blasphemy. People were losing their minds over that collector's edition.
Was I the Only One Confused?
Seriously though, who needs a school bag themed after Shujin Academy? Unless you were actually roleplaying a transfer student?
The art book was tempting. I'll admit that. But the price tag? Ouch.
I think some of us got caught up in the hype. Preorder bonuses! Exclusive content! FOMO everywhere!
Meanwhile, I was over here thinking, "Can't I just buy the game and, you know, play it?"
The Unpopular Opinion: Patience Pays Off
Here's the thing: I'm a patient gamer. Sometimes. Okay, maybe just when my wallet screams.
Waiting paid off in this case. I picked up a used copy months later for way less. No art book, sadly.
But hey, I still got to hang out with Joker and the Phantom Thieves! That's what mattered, right?
Plus, think of all the money I saved! Money that could be spent on... more games! The cycle continues.
The Allure of Limited Editions
I understand the appeal, truly. Limited editions are cool. They feel special.
The "Take Your Heart" edition looked amazing. That steelbook case? Chef's kiss.
But I just couldn't justify the extra cost. Especially when the base game was already promising hundreds of hours of playtime.
Did You Actually Use That Stuff?
Be honest: did you actually use that school bag? Or is it sitting in a closet, gathering dust?
I'm betting a lot of those collector's items are carefully preserved on shelves. Which is fine! But is it worth the initial investment?
Maybe it is for some. But for me? I'd rather spend that money on more games to... *actually* play.
I mean, imagine all the indie titles I could buy with that extra cash! It's a beautiful thought.
No Regrets (Mostly)
Do I regret not preordering? A little. The FOMO still hits sometimes.
But overall, I'm happy with my decision. I got to experience a fantastic game without breaking the bank.
And let's be real, the best part of Persona 5 isn't the merchandise. It's the story, the characters, and the style.
The Takeaway: Play the Game, However You Want
So, if you preordered the "Take Your Heart" edition, awesome! I hope you love it.
If you didn't, that's cool too! We're all just trying to enjoy our favorite games in our own way.
And maybe, just maybe, I'll snag that art book on eBay someday. But for now, I'm content being a Persona 5 latecomer.
Besides, there are always more preorders to obsess over! (Just kidding... mostly.)
