Okay, henny! Let’s teleport back to 2012, a simpler time. A time when RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars was BRAND NEW. We're diving headfirst into the glorious chaos of Season 1, Episode 1! Prepare for sequins, shade, and a whole lotta "WTF just happened?!"
This wasn’t your average lip-sync-for-your-life situation, oh no. RuPaul, in her infinite wisdom, decided to pair up our favorite queens! Can you imagine being told you had to share a crown...and a bank account?
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work (Or Does It?)
The first challenge? A sickening performance of RuPaul's hit, "We Break the Dawn." Think Spice Girls meets a drag convention – loud, energetic, and a little bit messy. It was like watching your friends try to assemble IKEA furniture after a few too many cocktails.
Some teams, like Chad Michaels and Shannel (Team Shad), absolutely SLAYED. They brought professionalism and polish! They were like the Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland of All Stars, totally in sync.
Then you had teams like Raven and Jujubee (Rujubee). Let's just say their dynamic was...interesting. It was like watching a master chef collaborate with someone who only knows how to boil water.
The Shade, the Shade, the Sheer Audacity!
The real drama, though, came from the team selections and the runway. All the queens had their opinions on who should team up with whom. It was like high school all over again, but with more glitter and bigger wigs.
The runway theme was "RuPaul's Best Friends Race." Some queens took it literally, serving up sweet and sentimental looks. Others, well, let's just say they interpreted "best friends" as "frenemies in fabulous outfits."
Remember Nina Flowers's avant-garde masterpiece? It was so bizarre, so out-there. Yet it was so undeniably Nina. A true artist!
The Untucked Tea Was Scalding
Backstage, the tension was thicker than Latrice Royale's thighs (and that's saying something!). Queens were throwing shade, strategizing, and questioning their life choices.
The judging panel had a tough decision to make. Which teams soared? And which teams faceplanted harder than Tammie Brown in a runway challenge?
The First Elimination…Wait, What?
Here's where things got REALLY wild. The top two teams had to nominate a queen from the bottom teams to be eliminated. It was a twist so shocking. So controversial. So very Season 1 All Stars.
Pandora Boxx and Mimi Imfurst found themselves on the chopping block, courtesy of Shad. Then Pandora Boxx gets sent home, and there was a collective gasp heard around the world.
In hindsight, the first episode of All Stars Season 1 was a beautiful disaster! The teams were awkward, the judging was questionable. The whole concept was frankly pretty unfair. But it was entertaining as all hell. We're ready to rewatch and gag over the iconic moments from this season!
