Okay, let's talk about something a bit controversial. We're diving into the *Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno* movies! Specifically, the second one.
I know, I know. Everyone LOVES these movies. And rightly so! But hear me out.
My "Unpopular" Opinion (Brace Yourselves!)
While I enjoyed Kyoto Inferno, I think it's… slightly overhyped. There, I said it! Don't throw your virtual tomatoes just yet.
The Build-Up Was Real, Though
The first movie did a fantastic job. Introducing Kenshin, showing off his skills, setting the stage.
And the promise of facing Shishio? Chef's kiss! The anticipation was killer. We were all ready for an epic showdown.
Then *Kyoto Inferno* comes along... and it's mostly...travelling. Lots of travelling.
The Journey, Not the Destination?
Don't get me wrong, the scenery is gorgeous! The Japanese countryside looks amazing.
But it felt like a really long road trip. One where Kenshin just keeps meeting people and getting into smaller fights. Like a samurai version of a buddy cop movie, but without the buddy.
And the plot? It felt a little thin for a whole movie. Gather allies, prepare for Shishio, the end!
Shishio, the Villain We Waited For
Shishio Makoto! Now THAT is a villain. Menacing, charismatic, and genuinely terrifying.
He's like the Joker, but with swords and bandages. And a burning desire to overthrow the government.
But we only get glimpses of his awesomeness in this movie. Teasing us like a delicious dessert that's just out of reach.
The Fights Were… Okay?
The action sequences are undeniably well-choreographed. No complaints there.
But did they feel as impactful as in the first movie? Not quite, at least to me.
Too much build-up, not enough payoff. Is it just me?
The "Cliffhanger" Cliff
Oh, the cliffhanger! Falling into the ocean? We knew Kenshin wouldn't die.
It felt more like a dramatic pause. An intermission before the real action starts.
It definitely made me excited for the third movie! But also slightly annoyed that I had to wait.
The Verdict?
Look, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno Part 2 is still a good movie. Just not a GREAT one, in my humble opinion.
It’s a bridge between the fantastic first film and the epic finale. An extended appetizer before the main course.
Maybe my expectations were too high. Maybe I'm just a grumpy samurai fan. Either way, that's my take!
Now, bring on the downvotes! Just kidding (mostly). What are your thoughts?
