So, You Watched Tanya the Evil, Right? Let's Talk.
Okay, let's get this out of the way. I have some *thoughts* about Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 1. And maybe, just maybe, they're a little...different.
We all know the premise. Salaryman dies, ticks off Being X, gets reincarnated as a little girl in a magical World War I. Sounds fun, right?
Tanya: Cute or Terrifying?
Tanya Degurechaff. We're supposed to be, like, scared of her ruthless efficiency. She's a tiny terror.
But honestly? Part of me was kind of rooting for her. Fight the man, Tanya! Especially when that man is, you know, a literal God.
Is that wrong? Maybe. But she's working with what she's got!
The War: Way Too Serious?
Look, I get it. War is bad. People die. Saga of Tanya the Evil shows that.
But sometimes, amidst all the grimdarkness, I just wanted a little levity. Just a tiny bit! A funny hat? A misplaced monocle? Anything?
Maybe that's because I'm used to more lighthearted anime. Perhaps that's why I couldn't entirely vibe with the super serious tone all the time.
Being X: Annoying or Actually a Good Antagonist?
Okay, let's talk about Being X. This divine entity is the reason for Tanya's misery. He wants her to believe in him.
But honestly? He just comes across as super petty. Like, get over yourself, dude.
He's basically the ultimate bad boss. Micromanaging from beyond the heavens! I can relate to Tanya's frustration on a spiritual level.
The Magic System: Cool, But Confusing?
The magic in Saga of Tanya the Evil is pretty cool. Flying mages shooting lasers? Yes, please!
But did anyone *actually* understand how it all worked? All those calculations and magic circles. My brain hurt just trying to follow along.
I'm not saying it's bad. Just maybe...a *little* overcomplicated.
The Ending: Satisfying or a Cliffhanger From Hell?
Season 1 ends with Tanya...well, things are still very much *not* going her way. Surprise!
It's a cliffhanger, for sure. Leaving you wanting more. Which, I guess, is the point.
But still! A little resolution would have been nice. A tiny victory for our embattled little mage. Is that too much to ask?
Unpopular Opinion Time!
So, here's my potentially unpopular opinion: Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 1 is good. But maybe a little overhyped?
It's definitely unique. The premise is bonkers. And Tanya is a fascinating character, even if she's a bit terrifying.
But I think sometimes, it takes itself a *little* too seriously. A little more humor, a little less grimdarkness, might have made it a perfect 10/10 for me.
Still, I'm definitely curious to see where Tanya's story goes next. If she doesn't accidentally start World War II, that is.
What do *you* think? Am I completely off base? Let me know! (But be nice. Remember, Tanya might be listening…)
Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed my little rambling. Please leave a comment!
