Okay, let's talk about This Is Us Season 5 on Hulu. I know, I know. Everyone loves this show. It makes you cry, it makes you think. But can we be real for a sec?
My (Possibly Unhinged) Thoughts
Season 5... well, it had its moments. But sometimes, it felt like they were trying a little too hard. Anyone else feel me? I'm bracing for impact from the hardcore fans.
The Pandemic Episode
Look, I get it. The pandemic happened. Shows had to address it. But did we really need to see the Pearsons masked up and sanitizing everything? It felt... forced.
Maybe I just wanted an escape from reality. This Is Us is usually my comfort blanket. Pandemic reminders weren't exactly cozy.
The Nicky Flashbacks
Don't get me wrong, Nicky is a great character. But the constant flashbacks in Season 5? It felt like they were stalling for time. Like, "Okay, guys, we need to fill 42 minutes. Let's dust off another Nicky story!"
I wanted more of the present-day Pearsons. More relationship drama, less Vietnam War history (again).
Kevin's Haircut Choices
Okay, this is petty. I admit it. But Kevin's hair in Season 5? What was going on there? It was like a different hairstyle every episode. Commit, man! Commit!
He goes from leading man to… well, let’s just say inconsistent. Thank goodness for Madison and her calming presence.
The Déjà Vu
Anyone else feel like we were retreading old ground? Characters facing the same problems they've already faced? It felt like a rerun sometimes.
Like, how many times can Randall have an identity crisis? We get it, you're adopted! Let's move on!
The "Big Three" Being...Not So Big
I wanted more Kate! More Kevin! More Randall! Instead, we got a lot of supporting characters taking center stage. Which is fine, but...where's the core of the show?
They felt strangely disconnected. Like they were living in separate shows that occasionally intersected.
My Unpopular Opinion (Brace Yourselves)
Maybe, just maybe, This Is Us should have ended sooner. Before the plotlines started feeling stretched thin.
Before the characters started making decisions that made absolutely no sense. Before I started yelling at my TV screen (more than usual).
"I said what I said!"
Still Love the Pearsons (Mostly)
Don't get me wrong, I still love the Pearsons. I'm invested in their stories. I'm just saying...Season 5 wasn't their finest hour.
It had some high points, sure. But overall, it felt a little...meh. Ready to watch the rest of the show.
So, am I alone in this? Or are there other This Is Us fans out there who feel the same way about Season 5? Let me know! (But be nice, please.)
