I'm not going to name names, or episode numbers. Let’s just say it involves a *significant* shift in location. And a certain reunion.

A reunion many of us had...complicated feelings about. I'm talking about the whole human-world thing.

Now, before you grab your torches and pitchforks, hear me out.

Is it Just Me, or...?

Did anyone else feel like the pacing took a nosedive? One minute we're in the labyrinth. The next, BOOM! Class reunion!

It's like the anime threw all its carefully built tension out the window. And replaced it with... teenage angst?

Don’t get me wrong, teenage angst has its place. It just felt out of place here.

Was the change jarring, a curveball unexpected? Or, dare I say... a tad boring?

The Human Factor: A Necessary Evil?

I understand the human side of the story is important. It gives context, background, and blah, blah, blah.

But honestly, I was there for Kumoko! I wanted more spider shenanigans!

I was ready to watch her level up, eat more monsters, and maybe accidentally destroy a small country or two.

Instead, we got... classroom drama. My kingdom for more poison synthesis!

Unpopular Opinion Time: Bracing for Impact

Here's where I might lose some of you. Prepare yourselves.

I think... the human sections often dragged. There, I said it!

While the parallel storytelling was initially intriguing, the human characters just didn’t hook me the same way Kumoko did. Maybe I have arachnophobia?

Sue me, but I just found myself fast-forwarding through their parts. Judge me all you want.

I wanted to see spider-mama overcoming insurmountable odds, not so-and-so failing their magic exam for the tenth time!

Let's Be Honest...

Maybe it's because Kumoko's resourcefulness is way more fascinating. Watching her figure things out is pure entertainment.

The other characters feel… less proactive. We understand they have a goal, but their progress often seems...slow compared to our spider protagonist.

I am aware the contrast is possibly intentional. Still, slow progress and "intentional" doesn't always mean interesting. Right?

Seriously, Kumoko could probably teach a masterclass in survival skills. The humans could probably use the class too.

In Defense of Spiders (and Slightly Against Humans)

Look, I'm not saying the human parts are terrible. They have their moments. I am saying they are a bit dragging for some.

But when I want to watch a spider anime, I want to watch a SPIDER ANIME! Not a high school drama with added magical elements.

Maybe that's just me. But I suspect I'm not alone in this.

Final Thoughts (Don't Hate Me)

So I'm a Spider, So What? is still a fun show. It has unique elements that makes it stand out.

Even with its slower moments, I still enjoy it. Kumoko's charisma is unmatched.

But that episode? It definitely felt like a dip in quality. Let's hope for more spider adventures and less awkward reunions in the future!
