Okay, let's talk Sword Art Online (SAO). Specifically, Alicization War of Underworld Season 2. It’s time for some (possibly) controversial opinions.
I know, I know. Some folks hail it as the peak of SAO. A masterpiece! But…is it, really? Let's dive in.
The Epic Climax…Or Was It?
The War of Underworld was supposed to be, well, a war! Armies clashing, epic battles…you know, the works. We got some of that.
But did it always land? Sometimes it felt like a bunch of disconnected fights. Cool animation, sure, but did it always serve the story?
Kirito's Coma Caper
Let's address the giant, sleeping elephant in the room: Kirito. Our hero spends a big chunk of the season…out of commission.
He's basically in a digital coma. A beautiful, light-filled coma, but still a coma. Was anyone else screaming "WAKE UP, KIRITO!" at their screens?
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the character development for others. But seeing Asuna trying to carry everything was...stressful.
And when he finally does wake up, BOOM! He’s suddenly super-powered. Talk about convenient timing.
Remember that scene where everyone sends Kirito their power? Felt a little too much like a shonen trope. Not that it was bad, but, original?
New Characters Galore!
War of Underworld introduces a ton of new faces. Some were awesome! Others…felt a bit like background noise.
Gabriel Miller, aka Subtilizer, was a pretty compelling villain. Creepy and powerful. He's definitely memorable.
But the sheer number of characters made it hard to connect with them all. Anyone else forget half their names?
The Pacing Problem
The pacing in War of Underworld Season 2 felt…off. Some episodes dragged on. Others rushed through important plot points.
The constant flashbacks didn't help. We get it, Alice is important! But did we need quite so many reminders?
It felt like they were trying to cram too much into too little time. Maybe stretching it out more would have helped.
Unpopular Opinion Incoming!
Okay, here’s the big one. Brace yourselves. War of Underworld Season 2 isn’t a bad season. Not at all!
But it's not the undisputed masterpiece some claim it to be. It has flaws. It has pacing issues. And the whole Kirito coma thing...still bugs me.
The animation is fantastic. The music is epic. The emotional moments hit hard. But it could have been even better.
Maybe my expectations were too high. Maybe I just wanted more Kirito kicking butt. Whatever the reason, I left feeling a tad underwhelmed.
So, there you have it. My slightly spicy, possibly unpopular, opinion on Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld Season 2. What do you think?
Let the debate begin! And please, be gentle. I'm just a fan with feelings.
