Okay, buckle up buttercups, because Episode 7 of The Last Kingdom Season 3 is a wild ride! We're talking double-crosses, tearful goodbyes, and enough shield-bashing to make your ears ring. Forget your tea and biscuits, you'll need something stronger for this one.
Alfred's Still Being Alfred (Mostly)
Let's be honest, King Alfred is a complex character. He's brilliant, pious, and… well, a little bit annoying. This episode sees him juggling political chess with the Danes while trying to keep his own court from imploding.
He’s also obsessed with his legacy. Alfred wants to be remembered as a great king, but maybe he should focus a little less on posterity and a bit more on, you know, not getting stabbed in the back! It is amusing to see him squirm when things don't go his way though.
Uhtred's Stuck in the Middle (Again!)
Poor Uhtred. He's basically the world's unluckiest babysitter, constantly having to clean up everyone else's messes. He’s torn between his loyalty to Alfred and his complicated history with the Danes.
This time, he's trying to negotiate peace, but the Danes aren’t exactly known for their diplomatic skills. Let's just say things get...messy. I like how he somehow finds himself as the middle man yet again!
Betrayal is the Name of the Game
If there's one thing The Last Kingdom loves, it's a good old-fashioned betrayal. And Episode 7 delivers in spades! There are secrets, lies, and backstabbing galore.
You'll find yourself yelling at the screen, "Don't trust him!" more than once. Just when you think you know who's on whose side, BAM! Someone pulls a fast one on you.
Who can you trust? Probably only dogs at this point, even then I'd be skeptical.
Aethelflaed Steps Up
Aethelflaed, Alfred's daughter, continues her journey from sheltered noblewoman to total badass. She’s starting to show real strength and intelligence, and I am here for it!
She's tired of being a pawn in her father's game, and she's ready to play her own. Aethelflaed is definitely one to watch. I love her character arc and how strong she has become despite her limitations.
Brida's Still... Brida
Ah, Brida. If there's one character who's consistently unpredictable, it's her. She is loud, angry, and loyal to no one but herself (and maybe Ragnar, sometimes).
In this episode, she continues to stir up trouble. Her scenes always add a bit of chaos and a raw, visceral energy to the story, even though you might not agree with her choices. Love her or hate her, you can't ignore Brida!
The Danes Aren't Exactly Having a Tea Party
Let’s be real, the Danes are a bunch of brutal warriors. But they're also surprisingly… human, sometimes. They have their own internal conflicts and power struggles, and it's fascinating to watch it all unfold.
Even amidst all the raiding and pillaging, there's a sense of camaraderie and loyalty amongst some of them. Though most of them are trying to kill each other.
And, of course, there's plenty of shield-wall action. Get ready for some epic battle scenes!
Heartbreak and Hope
Amidst all the political maneuvering and violence, Episode 7 also has moments of genuine emotion. Some relationships are tested to their limits, and others are forged in the fires of adversity.
There are tearful goodbyes and hopeful reunions, reminding us that even in the darkest of times, there's always a glimmer of light. It's the perfect reminder of the show's core values of loyalty and brotherhood.
Overall, Episode 7 is a rollercoaster of emotions. It's exciting, heartbreaking, and full of surprises. So, grab your popcorn (or mead!) and get ready for another unforgettable chapter in The Last Kingdom.
