Remember that time when Only Murders in the Building Season 1 wrapped up all neat and tidy? Yeah, well, Season 2 decided to chuck that tidiness right out the window.
Instead of a well-deserved pat on the back, our favorite true crime podcasting trio, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, found themselves smack-dab in the middle of another mystery, this time as prime suspects!
From Podcasters to Persons of Interest
Talk about a plot twist! Imagine going from solving a crime to becoming the people everyone suspects of committing it.
It was like the whole Arconia building, their quirky apartment complex, was pointing a collective finger, muttering, "They did it!" And who could blame them? They were found at the scene of the crime, after all.
The victim? The Arconia's notoriously prickly board president, Bunny Folger. She was a character you loved to hate, and her death kicked off a whole new level of chaotic fun for the season.
The Bunny Trail: Twists, Turns, and Talking Birds
Season 2’s mystery was a wonderfully tangled web. It involved secret passages, a stolen painting, and a talking parrot who, let’s be honest, probably knew more than the detectives did.
The show really leaned into its comedic side, and it worked beautifully. The parrot, Mrs. Gambolini, owned by Bunny, was hilarious.
It wasn't just a whodunnit; it was a "how-in-the-world-did-they-do-it?" situation.
Beyond the Mystery: Heart and Humor
While the mystery kept us hooked, the real magic of Season 2 was how it deepened the bond between Charles, Oliver, and Mabel.
Each of them was grappling with their past, with their fears, and with the realization that they’d found something truly special in their unlikely friendship.
Mabel’s journey, in particular, was compelling as she confronted her own history and fought to clear her name.
Unexpected Guests and Familiar Faces
The season also introduced a fantastic new cast of characters, each with their own secrets and quirks. Cara Delevingne as Alice Banks, Amy Schumer as herself, and Shirley MacLaine as Leonora Folger, Bunny’s mother, were particular highlights.
And of course, we got plenty of returning favorites, each adding their own special flavor to the Arconia stew.
It was a delightful blend of new faces and familiar comforts.
The Verdict: More Than Just a Murder Mystery
Season 2 of Only Murders in the Building wasn’t just about solving a crime. It was about the power of friendship, the importance of confronting your past, and the undeniable allure of a good, old-fashioned mystery.
It reminded us that even in the midst of chaos, there's always room for laughter, connection, and maybe, just maybe, a little bit of truth.
It made us feel like we were part of the Arconia family, even with all its secrets and eccentricities. It was a wildly entertaining ride from start to finish.
