Okay, people, let's talk Real Housewives of Orange County, Season 16, Episode 2. Remember that one? Buckle up, because I have some *thoughts*.
Did Anyone Actually Like This Episode?
Seriously, raise your hand if you were riveted. Anyone? Bueller? I'm finding it hard to believe anyone walked away saying, "Wow, groundbreaking television!"
Don't get me wrong, I love the OC ladies. But this episode felt...a little lackluster. Maybe it was the re-introduction overload.
The Heather Dubrow Effect
Look, I adore Heather Dubrow. Fancy Pants is back, and her house is STILL insanely gorgeous.
But did anyone else feel like the whole episode revolved around her return? It was a bit too much, right?
It felt like everyone was desperately trying to impress her. Especially the newbies.
Shannon's Shenanigans Continue
Ah, Shannon Beador. Our lovable, sometimes chaotic queen.
She's always good for some drama, isn't she? This time, it was with Gina Kirschenheiter and her new man, Travis Mullen.
The miscommunication was painful to watch. Did she really need to bring all the boyfriend baggage to lunch?
Gina & Emily: The Unsung Heroes?
I might be alone on this, but I'm kind of enjoying the Gina and Emily Simpson dynamic.
They are always hilarious. They feel genuine and real. Unlike some (*cough* everyone else *cough*).
They offer a refreshing dose of normal amidst the orange county craziness.
My Unpopular Opinion: The Newbies Aren't Cutting It
Okay, brace yourselves. My hot take is that the new additions aren't bringing the heat.
I’m still trying to figure out what they even add to the group! Hopefully, they get more interesting quickly.
I just feel like we've seen this storyline before. New girls trying to find their footing with the veterans. Yawn.
The Biggest Disappointment?
The biggest disappointment of the episode? The lack of truly juicy drama.
It felt like a bunch of polite introductions and forced conversations. Where's the table flipping? Where's the screaming match in a restaurant?
I'm not saying I want them to be awful to each other, but a little conflict is what makes the show interesting!
Hoping For More
So, yeah, I wasn't completely blown away by this episode. But I have hope!
Maybe it was just a slow start. Maybe things will heat up as the season progresses.
I'm willing to give the OC ladies another chance. But they better bring the drama soon!
What did you all think? Am I being too harsh? Let me know in the comments!
"Real Housewives of Orange County: Season 16 Episode 2 - a lukewarm return to the OC?"
Maybe my expectations were too high? Or maybe the OC needed more time to bake in the orange county sun.
Only time, and more episodes will tell. Stay tuned, and stay sassy!
