So, You Watched Tanya the Evil Movie, Huh?
Let's be honest. We all went in expecting explosions. Tiny, angry explosions from a tiny, angry mage, right? And... well, we got them!
But did we *really* get them? That's the question that's been bugging me. Don't get me wrong, the visuals were impressive. The animation was top-notch, especially seeing Tanya unleash her magic.
The Movie: Bigger Battles, Same Old Tanya
The movie ramped up the scale. We saw more war, more tactics, and more dead soldiers. It was Tanya on a grander stage.
But sometimes, bigger isn't always better. The sheer scale of the battles felt... diluted? It's like adding too much water to your juice. Still juice, but less potent.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm being a picky fanboy.
Unpopular Opinion Time: Where's the Intimacy?
Here's where I might lose some of you. I missed the close-quarters scheming! The show did such a fantastic job of showcasing Tanya's manipulative genius in tight situations.
Remember those tense boardroom scenes? Those were gold! The movie, however, traded those in for vast aerial dogfights. Fun, but less brainy.
It felt like they focused too much on the "Evil" part and less on the "Tanya" part, if that makes sense.
The God Thing... Still Confusing
The whole God/Being X plot line remains... a choice. I appreciate the philosophical underpinnings. I really do.
But sometimes it feels like they shoehorn him in. "Oh, look, it's God again, messing with Tanya! Buckle up!"
Maybe it's a necessary evil (pun intended!). It does drive the plot forward, after all. Just... maybe tone it down a notch?
The Animation: Okay, I'll Give You That
Fine, I'll admit it. The aerial combat was breathtaking. Seeing the mages zip around, dodging bullets and casting spells? Awesome.
The visual effects were also impressive. Those explosions were definitely worth the price of admission.
But good visuals alone don't make a great movie. Story matters, folks!
So, Was It Worth Watching?
Absolutely! If you're a fan of the series, you'll still enjoy it. It's more Tanya, plain and simple.
Just don't expect a masterpiece. Think of it as a really long, really explosive episode.
And maybe, just maybe, rewatch the boardroom scenes from the show afterward. Just to cleanse your palate of all the explosions.
Final Thoughts: Bring Back the Brains!
Look, I love Tanya. I love her cold, calculating demeanor. I love her struggles against Being X.
I just wish the movie had focused more on the things that made the show great. The cunning. The manipulation. The sheer, unadulterated evil genius.
Here's hoping the next installment leans a little more into the brains and a little less into the bang.
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm just yearning for more of the original anime's charm. What do you think?
