Let's Talk About *The Very Pulse Of The Machine* (and its Characters!)
Okay, let's dive into *The Very Pulse Of The Machine*. We're talking about Murmurs from beyond!
Caleb
First up, we've got Caleb Widogast. He's the fiery wizard who can cast some serious spells.
Now, here's my maybe-unpopular opinion. Is he *really* that interesting? Don't get me wrong, Taliesin Jaffe is great, but...
Sometimes, Caleb felt a little...predictable. Fire, trauma, books, repeat.
Beauregard
Then there's Beauregard Lionett, the fearless monk. She's the queen of punches and witty remarks.
Marisha Ray totally nails the role. But even Beauregard can occasionally fall into the "tough girl" stereotype.
It's like, okay, we get it, you're strong. Show us some vulnerability!
Fjord
Next on our list is Fjord Stone, the conflicted warlock. His character arc is pretty epic.
Travis Willingham brings a lot to the table. But all the warlock-y stuff sometimes felt like a distraction.
Sometimes, Fjord's indecisiveness got on my nerves. Just pick a side already!
Jester
And we can't forget Jester Lavorre, the bubbly cleric. She's the heart and soul of the group.
Laura Bailey plays her with such infectious joy. But even Jester had her moments of being *too* naive.
Like, come on, the world isn't *always* sprinkles and cupcakes! Though, I kind of wish it was.
Yasha
Speaking of strong women, let's talk Yasha Nydoorin. The silent but deadly barbarian.
Ashley Johnson does a great job with a challenging role. But Yasha's lack of dialogue sometimes made her hard to connect with.
I wanted to know more about what was going on in her head! More inner monologues, please!
Caduceus
Then we have Caduceus Clay, the gentle firbolg druid. He's the calm in the chaos.
Liam O'Brien brings such a peaceful presence. But sometimes his zen-like nature felt a little...flat.
I needed to see some rage! Just a *little* bit of yelling would have been nice!
Nott/Veth
And of course, Nott the Brave (later Veth Brenatto). The goblin rogue with a heart of gold.
Sam Riegel is a comedic genius. But even Nott/Veth had her moments that weren't as hilarious as they could have been.
Sometimes the comedy felt forced. I felt like she was just trying to be the comic relief.
What's My Point?
Okay, I know what you're thinking. Am I just being negative?
Not at all! I love *The Very Pulse Of The Machine*! Each one brought something special.
But it's fun to analyze characters and see their strengths and weaknesses. Even our beloved Mighty Nein had them!
These are just my humble opinions. Feel free to disagree! It's all part of the fun.
What are YOUR thoughts? Which character did you love the most (or the least)? Let's discuss!
Did you find the machine, or did the machine find you?
