Remember When We Were All Waiting for *That* Walking Dead Episode?
Okay, picture this. It's sometime in 2020. The world is… well, you know. And all we could talk about was The Walking Dead. Specifically, season 10 episode 16.
I'm pretty sure half of us were refreshing our streaming services every five seconds. Anyone else feel me?
The Hype Was Real
The build-up was intense. We'd been promised an epic showdown. The whispers of returning characters were deafening.
Every fan theory video on YouTube? I watched them all. Don't judge. We were all a little stir-crazy!
Seriously, I think my pizza delivery guy even asked me about Negan's possible redemption arc. It was that widespread.
My Hot Take: It Was… Fine?
Okay, okay, before you grab your pitchforks. Hear me out! The Walking Dead is a show I love. Mostly.
But after all that waiting, all that anticipation... Season 10 episode 16 felt a little… underwhelming.
Yeah, I said it! Someone had to.
The Whisperers? More Like… Murmurers?
Alpha was scary, I'll give her that. But the Whisperers as a whole? I always thought they looked kind of silly. Imagine trying to maintain a serious threat while wearing a zombie mask in the summer heat.
And the whole "hiding in plain sight" thing? In a world overrun with actual zombies? A bit redundant, no?
Plus, their whispering always sounded like someone forgot to turn off their mic. Just me?
Negan: From Villain to… Anti-Hero Maybe?
Negan! Ah, Negan. The guy we all loved to hate. Then... we sort of started to like him?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is fantastic, no doubt. But that redemption arc felt a bit rushed, didn't it? From smashing heads with Lucille to babysitting Judith Grimes? Quite the career change.
Still, gotta admit, he's got charisma for days. Even when he's being a total jerk. It's a gift, really.
The Ending That Wasn't Really An Ending
Let's be honest, Season 10 episode 16 wasn't really *the* ending, was it? It felt more like a prolonged intermission.
They stretched it out longer than my grocery budget sometimes! And the *true* ending (eventually) was more satisfying for sure.
I’m not saying it was bad, okay? Just… not as earth-shattering as I’d hyped it up to be in my mind. Maybe my expectations were just too high.
We All Have Our Opinions
Look, at the end of the day, it's just a TV show. I know some of you absolutely adored season 10 episode 16. And that's totally cool!
We all experience things differently. Plus, misery loves company, so it’s always nice to have something to argue about online.
But hey, at least we can all agree that waiting for the next episode was agonizing. And that Carol deserved a vacation… preferably somewhere far, far away from zombies and drama.
Did you feel the same? Or am I totally alone in my mild disappointment? Let me know!
And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go re-watch the first season. For nostalgia's sake. And because Rick Grimes.
