Okay, let's talk about The Walking Dead. Specifically, Season 6. Anyone else feel like it was... long? I mean, seriously long.
We all love zombies, right? And Rick Grimes' beard. But sometimes, even good things can overstay their welcome. Just a little.
Sixteen Episodes: A Zombie Marathon
Season 6 clocked in at a hefty sixteen episodes. That’s a lot of walker-slaying and existential angst. Was it *too* much?
I know, I know. "More Walking Dead is always better!" That's what everyone says. But hear me out!
My Unpopular Opinion: Less is More
Maybe, just *maybe*, sixteen episodes stretched things a tad too thin. Did we really need every single subplot? I'm not so sure.
Think about it. Remember that dragged-out story with the Wolves? Or the never-ending search for supplies? My eyes started to glaze over.
Wouldn't a tighter, more focused ten or twelve episodes have been amazing? Imagine all the filler cut out. Boom! Pure zombie gold.
I'm not saying Season 6 was bad, okay? There were some seriously killer (pun intended!) moments. Negan's introduction? Chills!
But even the great moments sometimes felt diluted by the sheer volume of content. A little snappier pacing could have amplified the impact.
The Episode Length Debate
And let's not forget those extended episodes. Seriously? More drama than action.
I love character development as much as the next survivor. But at some point, I just wanted to see some zombie heads explode, okay?
We're here for the apocalyptic action, not a therapy session with Rick Grimes and a herd of walkers as the audience (Although that would be an awesome concept).
"But the character development is important!" - Probably Someone on Reddit
Yes, yes it is. But did we need *quite* so much of it? I am starting to think this is more of a daytime drama than an apocalypse.
Remember the Cliffhanger?
Oh, and that infamous cliffhanger at the end of the season? Talk about a way to make fans wait!
While the anticipation was intense, some might argue it was also a bit manipulative. It left us hanging for months. Months I tell you!
It wasn't my favorite, but I am still here, watching! Just maybe fewer episodes would be nice. Perhaps next time?
Ultimately, Still a Fan
Don't get me wrong. I still love The Walking Dead. I'm invested in the characters, even the ones that annoy me.
But sometimes, quantity doesn't equal quality. Sometimes, less truly is more. This is just my opinion, of course.
So, what do you think? Am I crazy? Or did Season 6 feel just a *little* too long for anyone else?
