Remember "Under the Banner of Heaven"? That true crime drama that had us all googling Mormon history at 2 AM?
The Laffertys: Still Stirring the Pot (Figuratively, Hopefully)
Let's be honest, the Lafferty brothers were the, uh, stars of the show. Well, maybe "stars" isn't the right word. Let's go with "most memorable."
Dan Lafferty: Locked Up, Obviously
Dan Lafferty, played brilliantly by Dan Lafferty, is still, well, where he was at the end of the series: in prison. Shocking, I know. He is serving his time for the murders.
No surprise there. But you know what IS a surprise? How many people still find him… intriguing. Unpopular opinion: guys who kill people are not intriguing. They're terrifying.
Ron Lafferty: Gone But Not Forgotten
And then there's Ron Lafferty. He was portrayed by Ron Lafferty, right? Oh wait, that's not right. It was Sean Harris! Ron shuffled off this mortal coil a while back, avoiding execution due to health issues. Bummer, I guess?
Let's just say I wasn't exactly shedding tears. Maybe that makes me a bad person. Maybe it just makes me someone who prefers living people over… well, you know.
The Other Players: What Are They Up To?
Beyond the Laffertys, what about everyone else? Did they all just go back to their lives after starring in a horrifying true crime story?
Brenda Wright Lafferty: Victim, Always Remembered
Brenda Wright Lafferty, the real victim in all of this. She can never be forgotten. Daisy Edgar-Jones played her so well. It broke our hearts. There is nothing else to be said than may she rest in peace.
Detective Jeb Pyre: Still Solving Crimes (Probably)
Andrew Garfield's Detective Jeb Pyre? I bet he's still out there, solving crimes. Maybe he’s moved somewhere sunnier, trading the Utah chill for, like, Florida humidity.
He probably needs a vacation. All that Lafferty drama would age anyone, right?
The Supporting Cast: Blending Back In
The rest of the cast? They've probably moved on to other projects, other roles. You know, the usual Hollywood stuff.
It's kind of wild to think about, isn't it? They acted out this crazy story, and now they're just… back to being actors.
My Unpopular Opinion: True Crime Is… Weird
Okay, here's my hot take. True crime is… weirdly addictive, isn't it? We get hooked on these stories of terrible things happening to people.
Is it morbid curiosity? A way to feel better about our own lives? I don't know! I'm not a psychologist.
But "Under the Banner of Heaven" definitely made me think about the ethics of true crime. Do we have the right to turn other people's tragedies into entertainment?
Maybe we should all just watch comedies for a while.
I said what I said. Okay, Bye!
