Watch My Next Life As A Villainess Season 2

Okay, let's be real. We all went a little bonkers when My Next Life As A Villainess got a season two. Right? I mean, who wouldn't? Catarina Claes is a chaotic queen.

But… and this is a big but… did anyone else feel like season two was... a tad different? Like maybe it wasn't quite the same magic as season one?

The Harem's Still Strong, Though

Don't get me wrong! The reverse harem is still going strong. Geordo, Keith, Alan, Nicol... they're all still hopelessly devoted to our oblivious villainess. We love to see it.

The characters are adorable, the plot is generally lighthearted and funny, and the animation is bright and cheerful. What's not to like?

But, let's be honest. Sometimes it felt like the plot was… well, meandering a little. Like we were just waiting for something to *really* happen.

Less Villainess-ing?

Remember all the frantic flag dodging in season one? Catarina was constantly on the verge of doom! It was thrilling.

Season two felt like Catarina was… surprisingly competent? Maybe a little *too* competent? Where's the fun when she's not accidentally setting off death flags left and right?

I missed the sheer panic of her terrible decisions almost ruining everything. It's her charm!

The New Antagonist

The new villain(s) were... okay. They weren't as compelling as the original game's stakes. They felt a bit like plot devices more than actual threats.

The tension just wasn't the same, you know? Remember being on the edge of your seat wondering if Catarina would end up exiled or dead? Good times!

Maybe I'm just bloodthirsty, but I wanted more dramatic near-death experiences. More scrambling! More BAKARINA!

Romance or Friendship?

And speaking of scrambling... the romance! Or the lack thereof? Is Catarina ever going to choose someone?

Honestly, at this point, I think she's more in love with her gardening than any of the princes. Can't blame her, honestly. Those vegetables are looking good.

I appreciate that the show focuses on friendship and found family. It's a nice change of pace. But a *little* romantic development wouldn't hurt, right?

Still Worth Watching? Absolutely!

Look, I'm not saying season two was *bad*. Not at all! It was still a fun and enjoyable watch. I just think it didn't quite reach the same heights as season one.

It's like eating your favorite comfort food but it's missing a little salt. Still good, just... needs a little something extra.

Plus, we get to see more of our favorite characters! Maria is as sweet as ever, Sophia is brilliantly sharp, and Mary is adorably possessive. That alone is worth the price of admission.
