Alright, let's talk One-Punch Man. Specifically, Season 2. We all remember it, right? Some fondly, some... less so.
So, Where Does Season 2 Actually End?
This is where things get a little fuzzy. Officially, Season 2 ends with episode 12. Which, technically, covers the end of the Monster Association Arc... sort of.
But does it feel like it ends? That's the real question. I argue, not really.
My Unpopular Opinion: It Ends Before Episode 12
Here's my hot take: Season 2 kinda ends mentally, like, 3 episodes before the actual ending. Maybe even earlier.
Think about it. The momentum just… fizzles. The animation quality dips. The plot meanders like a lost mosquito.
We're all waiting for Saitama to do Saitama things. But he feels sidelined in his own show! That's a problem, folks.
Remember the hype for Garou? It was real! But did the season deliver on that hype? Again, I'd argue, only partially.
He’s cool, angsty, and a compelling antagonist. He just needed... more. Maybe a different animation studio?
The Garou Frustration
Garou's story gets cut short, in a way. We see glimpses of his potential, but it's like watching a fireworks display that's only half lit.
Instead of a grand finale battle, we get... a lot of talking. Talking isn't bad, but it needs to be punctuated with some serious punches!
And let's be honest, the animation during some of those "big" fights? Oof. My eyes still haven't fully recovered.
I'm not saying it's all bad. There were definitely moments. Genos being cool. King being King. But overall, something was missing.
So When Did You Check Out?
Seriously, think back. Was it during the multi-monster fight? The Garou backstory dump? The... everything?
For me, it was around episode 9 or 10. The plot lost its punch (pun intended!) and I found myself just wanting it to be over.
It's like that feeling when you're watching a movie and you know exactly where it's going. And it's not going anywhere good.
The Real Ending: Waiting For Season 3
Ultimately, Season 2 feels like a bridge. A bridge between the amazing first season and hopefully, an even more amazing third season.
We’re all hoping that Season 3 will recapture that One-Punch Man magic. The kind of magic that made us fall in love with the series in the first place.
Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I'm being too harsh. But I wanted to love Season 2. I really did.
But sometimes, you have to admit when something doesn't quite live up to expectations. And for me, Season 2 ended long before the credits rolled on episode 12.
So, let's just agree to disagree. And eagerly await Season 3, hoping for a return to form. And maybe, just maybe, some better animation.
Until then, let’s re-watch season 1. Now that's a masterpiece!
