What Happened To Beth On This Is Us

Remember Beth? Oh, Beth!

Okay, let's be real. Did anyone else feel like Beth got a bit... sidelined on This Is Us? I'm just saying what everyone's thinking! She's amazing and deserved more.

Beth's Early Brilliance

In the early seasons, Beth was EVERYTHING. She was witty, sharp, and the perfect counterpoint to Randall's anxieties. She was also a pillar of support. Remember that whole "adopting Deja" storyline?

Beth was instrumental! She helped navigate it all. Seriously, she was a superhero mom.

The "Beth Gets a Backstory" Episode(s)

We finally got to see more of Beth's past! Her dancing dreams, her family dynamics, and her frustrations with her career. It was great... for an episode or two.

Then, it was back to primarily supporting Randall. I wanted more of that Beth energy! I wanted more than just "supportive wife" energy.

Unpopular Opinion Time: Randall's Orbit

Don't get me wrong, I love Randall. But let's face it, the man is a bit of a black hole. Everyone revolves around him.

Even when Beth was starting her dance studio, it felt... orbiting Randall's anxiety about his mother. Just saying!

Did Beth Deserve More Storyline?

Absolutely! Beth is a complex character with her own dreams and struggles. She could have had so many amazing storylines unrelated to Randall's dramas.

Imagine a season focused on her building her dance studio! Or reconnecting with her extended family! The possibilities were endless.

What Happened to Beth's Fierceness?

Early seasons, Beth was unafraid to call Randall out on his stuff. Remember when she didn't want to move to Philly? Classic Beth!

Later on, it felt like she held back more. Did she lose her edge? Or did the writers just not give her enough space to shine?

Beth was a fantastic character on This Is Us. But, in my humble opinion, she wasn't given the spotlight she deserved.

She often felt like a supporting character in her own life. I wish we'd seen more of her ambitions outside of her family's needs.

Even with my criticisms, I adore Beth. She's a strong, funny, and relatable character. She's the kind of person you'd want as your best friend.

Susan Kelechi Watson is amazing. She brought so much depth and warmth to the role.
