Remember the good ol' days of RHONY?
Manhattan madness, Upper East Side drama, and drunken escapades. The Real Housewives of New York used to be pure gold. What even happened?
Seriously, I miss it. I miss the chaos.
The OGs Were...Something Else
Let's be real. Bethenny Frankel, Jill Zarin, Ramona Singer. They were iconic. Their fights were legendary.
Who could forget the Scary Island trip? Or Bethenny screaming "Go to sleep!" at Kelly Bensimon? Reality TV perfection!
I know, I know. Some say they were toxic. But honestly? Entertaining. Give me toxic over boring any day.
New Faces, New Problems?
Eventually, the original cast started to shift. New housewives arrived. Some were great. Others...not so much.
Remember Aviva Drescher throwing her leg? That was wild. But did anyone truly fill Bethenny's shoes?
That's a tough question. Probably not, right?
The Downward Spiral (Unpopular Opinion Alert!)
Here's where I might lose some people. I think the show started to take itself too seriously.
The women seemed more aware of the cameras. The drama felt...forced? Less organic.
Like they were performing for the audience, not just living their (admittedly privileged) lives.
Woke-ness Gone Wrong?
Now, I'm all for being progressive. But did RHONY try a bit too hard? Maybe.
Some felt the discussions about race and identity politics were clunky. It lacked the natural feel it used to have.
I understand the need for diversity and inclusivity. But sometimes, it felt like checking boxes, not genuine connection.
The Reboot...A Hopeful Sign?
So, they rebooted. New cast, fresh start. Is it what we needed?
It is fun to see new faces. Let's be honest, however, is it *RHONY*? I don't know if it is.
Only time will tell if this new chapter can recapture the old magic. For now, I will binge old episodes of Luann de Lesseps singing "Money Can't Buy You Class."
Bring Back The Crazy (Please!)
Ultimately, I think RHONY lost its way because it lost its sense of humor. It needs to embrace the chaos again.
These are privileged women living in New York City. Let them be ridiculous! Let them be messy!
Stop trying to make them perfect role models. Give us the wine-fueled fights. Give us the outrageous outfits. Give us the unadulterated New York drama.
I miss the housewives who didn't care what people thought. The housewives who embraced their flaws. Bring back the OG energy! Please!
Is that too much to ask?
