Okay, let's talk about the best roommates ever. I'm talking about the crew from What We Do In The Shadows. The show is hilarious, but let's be real, the cast makes it.
The Vampire Trio: A Love-Hate Relationship
Nandor the Relentless (Kayvan Novak)
First up, we have Nandor the Relentless. He's the self-proclaimed leader. He just wants everyone to get along, or at least acknowledge his (questionable) authority. I find him endearing, in a "please-don't-turn-me-into-a-bat" kind of way.
My unpopular opinion? Nandor is secretly the most sensitive vampire. He's just trying his best, guys! You've got to admire him.
Nadja of Antipaxos (Natasia Demetriou)
Then there's Nadja. She's fierce and unapologetically herself. She's also totally obsessed with her past lovers, which is... relatable, right?
Honestly, Nadja is a style icon. I'd wear her outfits every day if I could pull them off. Also her chemistry with Laszlo is 10/10!
Laszlo Cravensworth (Matt Berry)
And who could forget Laszlo? He's the suave, eccentric one. He's also got a real thing for...topiary. He also loves shouting "BAT!" a lot.
Let's be honest, Matt Berry's voice is a gift. I could listen to him say "BAT!" all day. It's a little weird, maybe, but definitely entertaining.
The Familiars: Living the Dream (of Not Being Eaten)
Guillermo de la Cruz (Harvey Guillén)
Guillermo, aka "Gizmo," is Nandor's long-suffering familiar. He dreams of becoming a vampire himself. But mostly, he just deals with Nandor's demands and kills vampires when they try to hurt his roommates. And he's secretly a vampire hunter!
Is it just me, or is Guillermo the real hero of the show? He's secretly saving the vampires' lives all the time. Give this man a raise (and some fangs!).
The Guide (Kristen Schaal)
The Guide from the Vampiric Council makes her appearance in season 3. She is absolutely hilarious. The Guide does not want to be there, but is contractually obligated. She is sarcastic, but also helpful.
I wish Kristen Schaal made an appearance more often. Her facial expressions alone are worth the watch.
The Chaotic Neutral: Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch)
And now for something completely different: Colin Robinson. He's an energy vampire. He feeds on people's boredom.
Okay, unpopular opinion time: Colin Robinson is my favorite character. He's so boring that he's hilarious. Plus, we all know a Colin Robinson in real life.
Seriously, who hasn't been trapped in a conversation with someone droning on and on? Colin Robinson just takes it to the next level. He's the ultimate workplace nemesis.
The Guest Stars: A Rotating Cast of Weirdness
Let's not forget the amazing guest stars! From Tilda Swinton to Doug Jones, the show is full of hilarious cameos.
I love how willing everyone is to embrace the weirdness of the show. It really adds to the charm. They seem to be having so much fun and that enjoyment translates to the screen.
So, there you have it: my slightly biased, totally subjective take on the What We Do In The Shadows cast. Who's your favorite? Don't be afraid to disagree with me... but you'd be wrong. Just kidding (mostly).
