Okay, let's dive into the season finale of What We Do in the Shadows, Season 1, Episode 10, "Ancestry." Forget dusty history books, this is vampire history with a hilarious twist!
The Baron Returns! (Sort Of)
Remember the Baron Afanas? Yeah, the ancient vampire who wanted our Staten Island crew to, you know, actually take over the world. Well, he's back... as a pile of ash.
Turns out, Nadja's ghostly boyfriend, Jeff (a.k.a. Gregor), accidentally bumps into the Baron's urn, sending him crashing to the floor. Oops!
A Hilarious Cleanup
What follows is a truly spectacular and messy scramble to gather up the Baron's remains. Think tiny vacuum cleaners and desperate attempts to identify dust bunnies.
It's chaotic, ridiculous, and exactly the kind of awkward situation that these vampires always seem to find themselves in. Honestly, it's slapstick comedy gold.
The Séance Situation
To try and contact the Baron, they decide to hold a séance. And who better to lead it than Nadja, a centuries-old vampire with experience in the dark arts?
Except, things don't quite go as planned. Let's just say that communication with the other side is fuzzy at best, resulting in more confusion than clarity. Instead of the Baron speaking, it's more like some demonic karaoke night!
Nandor's Big Discovery
Throughout the episode, Nandor the Relentless is obsessed with his ancestry. He’s convinced he's descended from some great warrior lineage.
He spends the whole time researching his roots. The reveal is... less than glorious.
From Conqueror to...
Prepare for a laugh! It turns out Nandor isn't a descendant of a fearsome conqueror. Instead, he's related to a servant.
He was once someone who cleaned up after the great warriors he so admired. The disappointment on Nandor's face is priceless.
Guillermo: The Unsung Hero (Again)
As usual, Guillermo, Nandor's familiar, is the glue holding everything together. He’s cleaning up messes, literally and figuratively.
He's also the only one who seems to have a shred of common sense. Seriously, where would these vampires be without him?
And, as always, the episode hints at Guillermo's potential as a vampire hunter. It's a slow burn, but it's definitely simmering!
The Council's Judgement
The vampires still face the consequences of killing all those other vampires. The Vampire Council arrive for a judgement.
The vampires plead guilty and offer to atone for the crime. The Vampire council decides the vampire must replace all those who were killed.
The episode ends with all the main characters as masters to dozens of new fledglings! Total chaotic hilarity!
