Alright, picture this: it's the end of the world, vampire style. Not with fangs and fire, but with a whole lot of boredom and, surprisingly, a musical number. Season 2 Episode 10 of What We Do In The Shadows, "Nouveau Théâtre des Vampires," delivers a finale so hilariously chaotic, it's hard not to love.
The Trial Nobody Expected
Our favorite Staten Island vampires, Nandor, Nadja, and Laszlo, find themselves in a sticky situation. They're hauled before the Vampire Council, not for any specific wrongdoing (though they’ve certainly committed plenty), but for accidentally killing a bunch of vampires! It was the Baron’s fault, but who wants to admit to that?
The trial itself is a masterpiece of awkwardness. Imagine a dimly lit theater, filled with bored-looking vampires in elaborate costumes. Instead of lawyers, they have vampire attorneys! And instead of evidence, they have...well, mostly just yelling.
Colin Robinson, our energy-sucking friend, plays a surprisingly crucial role. He discovers a loophole in the vampire code, a dusty old rule about putting on a show for the Council. Desperate times call for desperate measures, right? So, a play it is!
A Hilariously Bad Play
This isn't just any play; it's a hilariously awful, self-aggrandizing, and utterly bizarre theatrical production written and directed by Nadja. We are talking glitter, capes, and some questionable historical accuracy. You've got to love her dedication to the absurd.
The play stars Laszlo as himself, Nandor as a dashing hero (naturally), and Nadja as, well, Nadja. Even Guillermo gets roped into playing a role, much to his dismay.
And then there's Colin Robinson. Oh, Colin. He delivers a truly mesmerizing performance. He just stands there, droning on in the most boring way imaginable. It’s a power move, and it works surprisingly well, keeping the Vampire Council just entertained enough.
Unexpected Cameos and Surprising Twists
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any weirder, boom! Cameos galore! We're talking about vampires like Tilda Swinton and Evan Rachel Wood. Even Wesley Snipes (sort of) makes an appearance. It’s a who's who of undead celebrities!
But the real surprise? Guillermo, our beloved familiar, continues to show his vampire-slaying skills. He basically wipes out the Vampire Council! Who knew that sweet, awkward Guillermo was such a badass?
The ending is delightfully ambiguous. The vampires are free (for now), but Guillermo's secret is out. What's next for our favorite Staten Island residents? We’ll have to wait and see!
Why This Episode is Great
“Nouveau Théâtre des Vampires” is a perfect blend of humor, absurdity, and just a touch of heart. It embraces the show's signature silliness while also throwing in some unexpected twists and turns. It’s not about epic battles or dramatic reveals; it’s about the ridiculousness of being a vampire in the modern world.
The episode highlights the dysfunctional family dynamic between the vampires. They may bicker and annoy each other, but they're always there for each other (even if it’s just to avoid getting killed). The cameos are hilarious, the play is brilliantly bad, and Guillermo's transformation is incredibly satisfying.
So, if you're looking for a good laugh and a healthy dose of vampire-themed mayhem, this episode is definitely worth watching. Just be prepared for some glitter, bad acting, and a whole lot of undead shenanigans. And don’t forget the musical number!
