Is 'What We Do in the Shadows' Overrated? Hear Me Out!
Okay, okay, before you sharpen your stakes and come at me with garlic, let's talk 'What We Do in the Shadows'. Everyone loves it. It's a modern classic, right?
But is it… just a tad… overrated? I know, I know, blasphemy! I’m bracing for the downvotes. But I have my reasons.
The Hype Train
Seriously, the hype around this show is insane. People act like it's the funniest thing ever created. Like, funnier than a cat wearing a tiny hat while chasing a laser pointer.
I've seen people claim it's the peak of comedy. The absolute zenith. Is it really, though?
The Found Footage Fatigue
Look, I get the mockumentary style. It's clever. It was fresh-ish back in 2005 with 'The Office'.
But found footage can get tiresome. All that shaky camera work and characters constantly addressing the camera? It sometimes feels forced after a few seasons. Does anyone else feel this way?
The Humor: Hit or Miss?
Don't get me wrong, 'What We Do in the Shadows' has its moments. Nandor the Relentless is often hilarious. His cluelessness is gold.
But sometimes the jokes fall flat. Some of the gags feel repetitive. Am I the only one who thinks this?
Lazy Writing? Maybe a Little…
Okay, maybe "lazy" is too harsh. But occasionally, the plotlines feel a bit… thin. Like they just needed to fill time between the funny bits.
Characters make decisions that make no sense. Just so the plot can move in a certain direction. It can be frustrating.
Guillermo: The Real MVP
Honestly, the best part of the whole show is Guillermo. He’s the long-suffering familiar. He just wants to be a vampire!
His deadpan reactions to the vampires' antics are priceless. The show would not be the same without him.
The Supporting Cast: Underrated
Let's not forget the rest of the cast. Colin Robinson the energy vampire is uniquely funny. Nadja's chaotic energy is amazing. And of course, Laszlo is always good for a laugh.
They are all incredible in their own way. But the show still feels overrated!
Unpopular Opinion Time
So, here it is: 'What We Do in the Shadows' is good. It's funny. I enjoy watching it.
But is it the groundbreaking, revolutionary comedic masterpiece everyone claims it to be? I'm not convinced. It’s good, not godly.
Hear Me Out!
Maybe it's because the internet loves to latch onto things. Maybe it's because vampires are cool again. Whatever the reason, the hype machine is in overdrive.
I am simply saying, let's all calm down a little bit. Let's enjoy the show without pretending it's the second coming of comedy.
Don't hate me! What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? Let me know! Please be kind! Maybe I need a visit from Baron Afanas to set me straight.
