Okay, let's be honest. Are you, like me, going through This Is Us withdrawal? I mean, the Pearsons are practically family at this point.
We laugh with them. We cry with them. We yell at the TV when they make questionable decisions. And now...nothing. Just reruns and the echo of heartfelt monologues.
The Frustration is Real
So, the burning question: When will our beloved Pearsons grace our screens again? The internet is full of rumors and speculation. Some say never! (Dramatic gasp!).
Others point to vague dates in the future. It’s all very frustrating, isn't it?
The Unpopular Opinion (Brace Yourselves!)
Here's my potentially controversial take: Maybe... maybe it's okay that This Is Us is over. I know, I know. Throw tomatoes if you must.
But hear me out. Did it start to drag a little towards the end? Did the timelines get a little too convoluted?
I love Jack Pearson as much as the next person (maybe more). But revisiting his backstory for the tenth time? Hmmm….
The Plot Thickens (Or Doesn’t)
Let's face it, some storylines felt stretched thin. Like they were adding drama for the sake of drama. Less organic Pearson family feels, more manufactured plot twists.
Remember when Miguel became a central character? It felt like the show was trying too hard to fill the Jack-shaped void.
Nostalgia vs. Reality
We cling to the idea of more This Is Us because of the nostalgia. The early seasons were pure gold. The feels were so real!
But sometimes, the best thing a show can do is bow out gracefully. Before it jumps the shark. Or the Big Three all suddenly develop amnesia.
What Are the Actors Up To?
Of course, part of the longing comes from missing the actors. Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley…they all feel like old friends.
We want to see them in new projects, sure. But there's a comfort in seeing them together as the Pearsons.
Could There Be a Reboot? (Don't Say Never!)
Never say never to a reboot, right? Hollywood loves a good revival. Maybe in ten years, we'll get a This Is Us: The Next Generation. Or a series of holiday specials.
Imagine: Baby Jack navigating his twenties! Nicky as a sassy grandpa! The possibilities are endless.
The Verdict: Embrace the Memories
For now, I'm content to rewatch my favorite episodes. The ones that made me laugh until I cried (and cried until I laughed).
The ones that reminded me of my own family, flaws and all. This Is Us left a mark, that's for sure.
So, while I secretly hope for a surprise announcement of new episodes, I'm also okay with letting the Pearsons rest. They deserve it. And so do we!
But if they *do* come back... I'll be first in line to binge-watch. Just don't tell anyone I said that.
