Okay, let's talk about something important. It's something that keeps me up at night (sometimes). Why, oh why, isn't Family Guy on Disney Plus?
Seriously, I need answers. My streaming routine feels incomplete. It's like peanut butter without jelly, or a Sunday without cartoons.
The Mouse and the Griffins: A Strange Relationship
Disney owns everything. I mean, have you seen their empire? They gobble up studios faster than Peter Griffin eats pizza.
And yes, they own 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios). Which, surprise, surprise, includes Family Guy! So where is it?
It's like they adopted a quirky, loud, kinda inappropriate family. Then locked them in the attic. What's the deal, Disney?
My Unpopular Opinion
Maybe I'm alone here. Maybe you're all perfectly happy with your current streaming lineup. But I think Family Guy would be a great addition to Disney Plus.
Hear me out! We have The Simpsons. Aren't they kinda similar? One's yellow, one's... well, less yellow.
Plus, think of all the new viewers Family Guy could attract! Imagine the cross-promotion! Mickey Mouse meeting Stewie Griffin. Pure comedic gold!
Where Did It Go?
So, where *is* Family Guy these days? Hulu! That's where it's hiding. Sharing space with a bunch of other grown-up cartoons and dramas.
Hulu is also partly owned by Disney, which makes the situation even more baffling. It's like keeping all the spicy snacks in a separate pantry you only visit occasionally.
I get it. Disney Plus is the "family-friendly" zone. No cussing, no crude jokes, just wholesome entertainment. But isn't there room for a little adult humor?
A Call to Action (Sort Of)
I'm not saying we should start a riot. Or write angry letters to Bob Iger (although...). But maybe, just maybe, we can politely request a compromise.
Perhaps a special "Adult Animation" section on Disney Plus? A little corner for Family Guy, American Dad, and other shows that make us laugh...and maybe cringe a little.
Think of the possibilities! Family movie nights (with parental discretion, of course!). The kids watch Encanto, the adults watch Family Guy. Everyone wins!
The Ultimate Disney Conspiracy?
Okay, I'm kidding (mostly). There's probably a perfectly logical reason why Family Guy isn't on Disney Plus. Something about branding, or marketing, or whatever.
But a part of me likes to imagine a more elaborate conspiracy. Maybe Mickey Mouse is secretly jealous of Brian Griffin's wit. Or maybe Meg Griffin is secretly running Disney.
Whatever the reason, I'll keep hoping. Keep dreaming. Keep subscribing to both Disney Plus and Hulu. Because a guy can dream, right?
In the meantime, I'll just keep re-watching my favorite episodes on DVD. Yes, I still own DVDs. Don't judge me!
And who knows? Maybe one day, I'll log into Disney Plus and see that familiar theme song. Maybe one day...Family Guy will finally come home.
