Okay, let's talk about something important. Something that keeps me up at night. Will there ever be a Season 2 of Love Life...with Darby Carter?
The Darby Dilemma
I know, I know. The whole point of Love Life is that it's an anthology. Different season, different love story. Makes sense, right?
But here's my potentially unpopular opinion: I miss Darby! I miss her messy apartment and questionable fashion choices. Mostly, I miss her relatable dating fails.
Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed Marcus Watkins' journey in Season 2. William Jackson Harper is fantastic. The whole season was great!
Still...Darby. She just had this certain something. This endearing awkwardness that made you root for her even when she was making terrible choices.
Why We Need More Darby
Let's be honest, most of us can relate to her initial dating disasters. Remember the disastrous wedding speech? Or the multiple bad haircuts? Iconic.
She wasn’t perfect. Which is why she felt so real. Maybe that’s why I still hold out hope for a return.
Think about it: a mini-season checking in on Darby and her family! A quick glimpse into her life as a mom and wife. Just four episodes! I would binge-watch it so hard.
Imagine seeing her navigate the struggles of parenthood. Picture her awkward attempts at mom-friendships. The possibilities are endless!
The Argument Against It
Of course, there's a good reason why it probably won't happen. The show is designed to explore different perspectives on love. Sticking with Darby again would break that format.
And maybe her story is done. She found her happy ending (sort of). Maybe it's best to leave it there.
But…but what if she’s *not* happy? What if marriage is harder than she thought? What if she misses New York?!
My Unpopular (But Heartfelt) Plea
So, here's my official request to the powers that be at HBO Max (or whoever is in charge of these things): Give us one more season with Darby Carter.
Even a short one. Even just a cameo. Just *something* to let us know how she's doing.
I know I'm probably shouting into the void. I also understand that
"sometimes things just end"as a certain character might say, but a girl can dream, right?
Is it too much to ask for a little more Anna Kendrick navigating the complexities of love and life? I think not!
Ultimately, the decision is out of our hands. But I’m not giving up hope just yet.
So, what do you think? Am I completely alone in this? Or are there other Darby devotees out there who secretly yearn for a Season 2 with their favorite relatable disaster?
Let me know. Maybe if we make enough noise, someone will listen! Probably not, but hey, it’s worth a shot, right?
