Okay, let's talk Ascendance of a Bookworm. Specifically, Part 2 of the manga. We all love it, right? Well...mostly.
Don't get me wrong! I adore Myne (or should I say, Main?). Her struggles are so relatable, especially the whole wanting-books-more-than-life thing.
But Part 2...it has its quirks. Some might even say...it's a *tad* slower than a snail doing taxes.
The Temple Life: Blessings and Boredom?
So, Myne joins the temple. Awesome! More opportunities for book-related shenanigans, right?
Except...there's a LOT of cleaning. And praying. And dealing with grumpy priests. It's like she traded one set of problems for another, just with fancier robes.
Ferdinand: Genius or Grumpy Pants?
Let's talk about Ferdinand. Oh, Ferdinand. He's brilliant, powerful, and knows everything.
Also, he's basically a walking, talking "no fun allowed" sign. Lighten up, dude! Even geniuses need a day off.
Sometimes, I think he enjoys watching Myne struggle. It's like his personal amusement park. Admit it, Ferdinand!
He is cool though, teaching Myne all sorts of new things.
The Commoner vs. Noble Conundrum
Myne's commoner background causes so much drama. It's a constant source of problems and misunderstandings.
You'd think after a while, people would get over it. Nope! Class differences are a never-ending plot device. Sigh.
But hey, at least it gives Myne something to rebel against. She always finds a way!
The Blue Priests: Friend or Foe?
The Blue Priests are…interesting. Some are helpful. Others are just plain awful.
Trying to figure out who's on Myne's side is like navigating a minefield. One wrong step and BOOM! Betrayal!
Seriously, can't everyone just get along and read books together? Is that too much to ask?
The Paper Making Process: Fascinating...and Long
Okay, I appreciate the details about paper making. Really, I do!
But sometimes, I feel like I'm watching a documentary. Can we get back to the magic and the books, please? My attention span is waning!
I know it is important for the story, but a little bit faster would not hurt.
My (Slightly) Unpopular Opinion
Here it is: Part 2 is good, but it's not *as* good as later parts. There, I said it! Don't hate me!
It lays the groundwork, sure. But the real excitement is yet to come. Myne's adventures are only just beginning.
And yes, I know Rosemyne is the superior name. I'm getting there!
So, let's all agree that even with its slow moments, Ascendance of a Bookworm is still amazing. And let's eagerly await the next chapter of Myne's book-filled life!
Who agrees? Who thinks I am completely wrong?
