Okay, let's talk about Big Sky. That thriller set in, you guessed it, Big Sky Country. Specifically, season one. And how many episodes it had.
The Episode Count Conundrum
Here's where things get… interesting. Officially, season one of Big Sky has 16 episodes. Sixteen! That's a respectable number.
But did it *feel* like sixteen? This is my unpopular opinion, folks. It felt like two mini-seasons duct-taped together.
The Tale of Two Halves
The first nine episodes were… intense. We were hunting for kidnapped girls. Ronald was being creepy (as always). It was gripping!
Then…bam! Twist! New case! Different vibe. Did anyone else feel like they switched shows halfway through?
It’s like when you're baking cookies, and you run out of chocolate chips. So you throw in raisins instead. Technically, still cookies. But… different.
The Mid-Season Identity Crisis
Don't get me wrong, the second half of Big Sky Season 1 was still watchable. Plenty of Montana scenery to ogle.
But the shift in focus felt jarring. Like the writers suddenly remembered they needed more plot. Or maybe they just really liked adding more characters.
It’s hard to remember all of the character changes.
I get it. TV shows evolve. Plots thicken. But this felt less like evolution and more like a plot transplant. Someone call a doctor, stat!
Sixteen Episodes? Or Two Eight-Episode Arcs?
So, officially, yes, 16 episodes. But unofficially, in my heart? Two separate stories. Season 1A and Season 1B, if you will.
Maybe I'm just being picky. Maybe I wanted more Ronald. (Okay, that sounds weird. More *villainous* Ronald!)
Or maybe I just missed the initial mystery. The intensity of the search. The pure, unadulterated Montana darkness.
Was it the change in bad guys that threw me off? It could be.
The Unpopular Opinion: Confirmed?
Am I alone in this feeling? Did anyone else watch Big Sky season one and think, "Wait, is this the same show?"
Or am I just yelling at the TV again? Please, tell me I'm not crazy.
Maybe the show runners wanted to keep things fresh. To keep viewers on their toes. They did that for sure.
I am happy with the actors, and I am entertained.
Still Binge-Worthy, Though
Despite my ramblings, I still enjoyed Big Sky. I mean, who can resist a good mystery? Or Katheryn Winnick kicking butt?
And Kylie Bunbury? A total badass. I root for her every episode!
The setting alone is enough to keep you hooked. Big sky indeed!
The landscapes were stunning. You could practically smell the pine trees through the screen.
Final Verdict: Count 'Em If You Got 'Em
So, sixteen episodes it is. But in my memory? Season one will always be the tale of two halves. The kidnapping mystery and… whatever came after.
Still worth a watch, though. Just prepare for a bit of a wild ride. And maybe bring some raisins. Just in case.
Big Sky is definitely something else. And you have to watch it yourself to see if you agree with me!
