The Closer. Remember that show? Brenda Leigh Johnson solving crimes in LA? Of course you do! But what are those familiar faces up to now?
Brenda Leigh Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick)
Let's start with the obvious: Kyra Sedgwick! She practically *was* The Closer. Post-Brenda, she's been busy.
She’s been in movies and TV shows. Ever see "Brooklyn Nine-Nine"? She played Madeline Wuntch, Captain Holt's nemesis! Talk about a change of pace.
My Unpopular Opinion?
Wuntch was hilarious! But sometimes I miss Brenda's "Thank you, thank you very much." Anyone else?
Fritz Howard (Jon Tenney)
Fritz! Loyal FBI agent and Brenda's long-suffering husband. Ah, the romance!
Jon Tenney hasn't slowed down. He pops up everywhere! From "Major Crimes" (naturally!) to "Scandal" and even "And Just Like That..."
He's basically the king of guest appearances. Always a welcome face.
Gabriel (Corey Reynolds)
Detective Gabriel was always the smooth operator. He knew how to work a room. And work Brenda's nerves sometimes!
Corey Reynolds has been keeping busy on TV. He starred in "All American" and "Deputy." So, still rocking the law enforcement roles.
He’s a solid actor! Though I secretly hoped he'd break out and play a supervillain.
Provenza (G.W. Bailey)
Oh, G.W. Bailey as Provenza! The grumpy, cynical, yet secretly soft-hearted detective. A legend.
He’s a constant! He was fantastic in *Major Crimes*. Bailey has a way with delivering those sarcastic lines!
He's the kind of actor you just want to see keep working forever. Never change, Provenza!
Flynn (Tony Denison)
Flynn. The other half of the Provenza/Flynn dynamic. They were comedy gold. Like an old married couple, but with badges.
Tony Denison stuck around with *Major Crimes*. Plus, he's done a ton of other TV work. He even showed up in "The Good Wife."
He always plays a good tough guy. You wouldn't want to cross him.
Tao (Michael Paul Chan)
Michael Paul Chan as Tao. The tech genius! He could hack anything. Probably even your grocery list.
He continued with Major Crimes, too. You can't keep a good tech guy down! He's also done a lot of voice work.
I always wondered what Tao did in his free time. Did he build robots? Play video games? Enquiring minds want to know!
Buzz (Phillip P. Keene)
Last but not least, Buzz! The ever-helpful, always-around Buzz. He knew everything that was going on. And he had the best snacks.
Phillip P. Keene, interestingly, stepped away from acting. He went back to his real-life job! Which, fun fact, was working for an airline.
So, while the others are still solving crimes on screen, Buzz might actually be flying you to your next vacation. Talk about a plot twist!
Final Thoughts
It's always fun to see where actors end up after a show ends. Especially when it's a show you loved like The Closer.
They all brought something special to the table. They made the show what it was. And I, for one, am glad they’re still out there doing their thing!
Maybe it's time for a rewatch? Anyone else feeling nostalgic?
