Okay, let's talk World Beyond Season 2. More specifically, let's talk about how many episodes it had.
The Big Reveal (Kind Of)
The answer, for those playing at home, is ten. Ten glorious, zombie-filled episodes. Did it feel like more? Sometimes. Did it feel like less? On occasion, yes.
Ten episodes. That's it. We're all caught up now.
But Wait, There's More (to Complain About)!
Now, I know what you're thinking. Ten episodes is a standard number for a lot of shows. I get it. But here's my controversial, possibly unpopular opinion.
Ten episodes for World Beyond Season 2? Not enough. Not enough angst. Not enough CRM intrigue. And definitely not enough Hope awkwardly trying to be cool.
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Hear me out. The show was trying to wrap up a whole lotta plot threads. We had the CRM's nefarious schemes. There was the whole "rescuing the scientists" mission. And let's not forget the character development (or lack thereof, depending on who you ask).
Ten episodes felt...rushed. Like they were cramming a college semester's worth of information into a weekend seminar. I needed more time to emotionally invest in these characters, especially Iris, her evolution into a strong character needed more exploration.
I mean, we had all this build-up with the CRM. Then bam! It's kind of over. Did anyone else feel like they wanted more of the Civic Republic Military's backstory?
More Episodes, Please! (Maybe)
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying the show was *bad*. It had its moments. There were definitely some zombie-smashing scenes that were pretty awesome. And Silas's character arc was actually compelling.
But imagine if they had, say, thirteen episodes. Or even a full twenty-two! (Okay, maybe twenty-two is pushing it.)
Think of all the extra world-building we could have gotten. More exploration of the CRM's inner workings. More zombie hordes! And, crucially, more time for the characters to actually breathe and develop.
Was it a satisfactory conclusion?
The limited run affected the story's depth, let's be honest. While the writers did their best, it would have been nice to see things unfold more naturally.
Imagine if some stories that felt very rushed were given the time to become something great, like the stories related to Hope and Iris.
The Verdict
So, yeah, World Beyond Season 2 had ten episodes. It's a fact. But in my humble opinion, it could have used a few more. A few more to flesh things out, a few more to let the story breathe.
Maybe then, I wouldn't feel like I was watching a highlight reel instead of a full season of zombie drama. What do you think? Am I alone in this?
Probably. But hey, a girl can dream, right? Maybe they'll give us a spin-off with even more episodes. One can hope!
