Okay, let's talk about something a little… sensitive. Something that still makes some of us tear up a tiny bit. It's about Brooklyn Nine-Nine, of course!
The Season 8 Question: How Many Episodes?
The big question: How many episodes did we get in the final season? Brace yourselves…it's a grand total of ten. Ten! Just ten little nuggets of comedy gold.
I know, I know! It feels like a crime against humanity, right? We deserved more, didn't we?
Everyone moaned about it. Trust me, I was among them.
Ten Episodes? Seriously?
I mean, after seven seasons of police shenanigans and heartfelt character development, ten episodes felt like a goodbye hug that was way too short. We weren't ready!
We needed more Jake Peralta being Jake Peralta. More Amy Santiago striving for perfection. More Captain Holt delivering deadpan zingers.
And definitely more Rosa Diaz scaring the living daylights out of everyone. Was that too much to ask?
Look, I get it. Production schedules, actor availability, creative decisions… all that jazz. But still! Ten episodes? It stings a little, doesn't it?
My Unpopular Opinion (Prepare Yourselves!)
Here's where I might lose some of you. Deep breaths, okay? I think… maybe… ten episodes was enough. *Gasp!*
Before you grab your pitchforks and torches, hear me out! (Please?)
Sometimes, less is more. Sometimes, ending on a high note, before things get stale, is the best thing to do. Like a perfectly timed Boyle food pun.
Think about it. Remember those shows that went on *way* too long? The ones where you're just watching out of habit, not enjoyment?
Brooklyn Nine-Nine didn't become one of those shows. It bowed out gracefully (ish), leaving us wanting more. Which, arguably, is better than leaving us saying, "Oh, it's still on?"
The writers packed a lot into those ten episodes. They tackled some serious issues, gave us heartwarming moments, and still managed to make us laugh until our sides hurt.
Jake finally grew up (a little). We saw the squad evolve. They said goodbye in a way that felt earned, even if it was too soon.
The "Perfect Amount" is Subjective
Of course, everyone has their own opinion. Maybe you think ten episodes was a travesty. Maybe you're still holding out hope for a reunion movie (me too!).
That's perfectly valid! We all love Brooklyn Nine-Nine for different reasons. And we all grieve its ending in our own way.
Maybe another season would be great. But I'll keep binge-watching the show over and over again!
But, let's be honest, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of those shows that lives on. Its humor, its characters, its heart… it's all timeless.
So, while ten episodes might seem like a cruel joke, maybe it was the perfect (albeit short) way to say goodbye to our favorite precinct. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go binge-watch it again. NINE NINE!
